Fence Hopping Fans Foil Security and See AC/DC for Free at the Magnetic Hill Music Festival

Normally being last in line leaves you out in the cold when it comes to seeing AC/DC concerts. The Auzzie rockers are one of the hottest tickets around and the band often sells out stadiums within minutes from the time tickets become available. But several hundred late arrivals to the group's concert in Moncton, NB were able to take advantage of a security glitch and see AC/DC for free.

55,000 tickets had been sold to the event and approximately 60,000 fans were expected to show up for the band's Magnetic Hill Festival in Moncton on Thursday (08/06).

Though the band's performance was already well under way, thousands of rabid fans remained lined up, attempting to purchase tickets to no avail. Finally the late comers decided to take matters into their own hands. A group who'd been watching through the security fence while waiting in line, decided to try climbing it instead. In a Woodstock like scene, several hundred fans began pouring over the fence, according to RCMP estimates.

Concerned about the safety of those attempting to make jump over the high barricade, police and concert organizers eventually ordered the security guards to leave the ticket gate area and allowed the remainder of the lineup to get into the concert for free. Thanks to their compassionate efforts, no serious injuries resulted from the fence climbing attempts.

There are still no final estimates available on how many people attended the concert. But promoters thought there was a chance AC/DC might outdraw the Stones who drew more than 78,000 fans to their 2005 concert at Magnetic Hill.

AC/DC has been on the road with their massively successful Black Ice tour since September 2008 and will continue well into 2010 amid rumours of singer Brian Johnson's eminent departure. They have been touring in support of their equally successful 2008 CD Black Ice. It's the band's first since 2000's Stiff Upper Lip Tour.

AC/DC will continue the Canadian leg of its tour and will play soldout shows on Saturday (08/08) at Olympic Stadium in Montreal, QC and at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, ON on Monday (08/10). The band has further Canadian dates in Winnipeg (08/22), Regina (08/24), Edmonton (08/26) and Vancouver (08/29). After finishing their North American leg in Nov/09, they will then head home for a number of dates in Australia and New Zealand through early March.
