Chamba district in the State of Himachal Pradesh in India is full of the natural beauty due to the Himalayan Mountains range all around it. I was lucky to visit this Chamba district during my work of erection of hydro electric turbines in the year 2006. I had stayed at the city of Bharmor of Chamba district for around 10 days. I was really amazed to see the beauty of this city of Bharmor at that time and hence, I will try to cover some vital aspects of Bharmor in this article.

Bharmor has remained the capital city of Chamba district for around 400 years in the past. This is an ancient city having the population of Bharwads and Gaddi people. One can reach Bharmor by hired car or taxi or the State Transport bus from the city of Chamba. It is around 40 miles away from Chamba. For reaching Chamba, you can take flight up to Kangda or come by train up to Pathankot and then travel by taxi or bus to Bharmor. This city is full of temples and the Mountains range near by. There is an open area in the center of the town, where there are 84 temples situated very close to each other. That is why this chalk is called Chorasi. The most impressive of all the temples is the temple of Manimahesh, which is situated 20 miles away from the town of Bharmor. This temple is located on the peak of one of the Mountains, which adds to its beauty. The image of this Mountain peak and the temple falls in the Lake below, which is located at the base of the Mountain. This sight is really the most beautiful. All the pilgrims take a holy bath in this Lake prior to their visit to the temple of Manimahesh. There is a very big bull of metal at the entrance of the temple, which is called Dhyanarh. The Lord Shiva Lingam here is really unique. It has blue color and seems like it is made up of pure crystal. The big fair is held here every year in the month of August. Thousands of pilgrims come here at that time from all over the country.

The other temple of Shakti Devi is situated at the village of Chattari. This temple is the main temple of the local people. The statue of Mata here is really hypnotic and when you look in to the eyes of Mataji, you feel like as if you are drowned in to the powerful eyes of the Mataji. Himachal Pradesh is full of temples and the ancient architecture. The Buddha religion is the most prominent here. As a result, one can see many mathas and the gompas in each town of this area. There are around 32 forests preserves and two National parks in this area. The tourists interested in wild animals can see many such animals if they visit the interiors of these forests. The specialty of this area is adventure games, golf, skiing, tracking, and Mountaineering.

There are very few hotels here to stay. These hotels are not very luxurious. However, they provide clean and neat double rooms with attached toilet at the rates of around Rs.400 ($10). Hotel Iravati, Hotel Manimahesh, and the Hotel Devdar are the main hotels of this city. I had myself stayed at Hotel Manimahesh and I found it quiet cozy and comfortable. The famous hill stations of Dalhousie, Spitty, and Kinnar are within the distance of around 50 miles from Bharmor. Hence, most of the tourists visit these hill stations from here and stay at Bharmor due to the heavy pollution and the congestion at the famous hill stations like Chamba. If you like to relax in the peaceful hilly areas with minimum financial expenditure, Bharmor is the place for you.
