Candy Crowley Replaces John King on CNN's Sunday Morning Political Talk Show
CNN has announced that Candy Crowley will replace John King as host of CNN's Sunday morning political talk show.
John King, the current host, is leaving the show to host another show which will air on weeknights on CNN.
Candy Crowley will host the show for one hour beginning at 9am Eastern time. This will make her the only woman among a large group of male Sunday morning hosts.
Candy Crowley found a niche for herself as a broadcast journalist reporting on political elections. She has covered Presidential elections, gubernatorial elections and Senate elections. She has covered national political conventions for decades.
Candy Crowley has one hosting gig under her belt. She hosted CNN's "Inside Politics" for a short time.
Candy Crowley began her career in radio. She worked in Washington DC in the newsroom of a popular radio station. Her career with CNN began in 1987.
Crowley recently got media attention for losing a lot of weight. The political reporter has said that it surprises her that people care about her weight loss more than they do about her reporting. It has been speculated that Candy Crowley underwent weight loss surgery, but Crowley says no. She said it's a combination of diet, exercise and meditation. In fact, she says the meditation is the main component of her diet. Feeling at rest helps her to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Did Crowley's recent weight loss help her nab the job at CNN? In television's double-standard ridden world, it might have. Television likes to put attractive people in front of a camera. Women especially have to worry about their appearances if they want to keep a career in front of a camera.
Whether or not her weight loss was a factor, Candy Crowley has proven that she has the background, the knowledge and the skills to intelligently host a political talk show.
See Candy Crowley on Sunday mornings at 9am. That's unless John King pulls a Jay Leno and wants his slot back.
