Seether Headline at Fifth Third Ballpark

On Saturday Fifth Third Ballpark in Comstock Park was the site of WGRD FM 97.9's second annual Wingstock.

The event featured performances from hometown band Wayland as well as rockers Sick Puppies and Hinder.

Alternative band Seether were the evening's headliners and are currently out promoting their sixth studio album Holding Onto Strings Better Left To Fray.

On Saturday, Seether pulled out a 75-minute set that leaned more towards the old with the set only featuring two songs off of their new album: first single "Country Song" and the fiery "Fur Cue".

Ironically, it was "Country Song" which received the biggest crowd reaction of the night as the entire ballpark from the field to the stadium seats exploded and began to clap along to the song's catchy opening.

Seether's form of moody metal was on full display as the band pulled out brooding songs like "Fine Again", "Broken", and "Breakdown" as well as a cover of Nirvana's "Heart-Shaped Box".

However, it wasn't all low key as the band also pulled out heavier songs like opener "Gasoline" and "Pig".

Vocalist Shaun Morgan is a pretty subdued front man but what he lacked in crowd interaction he more than made up in his outstanding live vocals.

The band recently became a trio after losing lead guitarist Troy McLawhorn and it was interesting watching how well they have adapted to the change.

Morgan, bass player Dale Stewart, and drummer John Humphrey seemed as if they had always been a three-piece outfit.

This was proven in the evening's closing trio of "Rise Above This", "Fake It" and "Remedy" which left the crowd wanting more.
