Seinfeld Diss: Lady Gaga's a Jerk

Valerie Ferrari
Lady Gaga not only got a lot of publicity out of her June 10th incident where she gave photogs the finger at a Mets game, and later claimed it was totally a New York thing to do, she came to the attention of comedian, Jerry Seinfeld because she ended up sitting in the luxury box he pays for.

After the little Lady Gaga love gesture, the singer let loose a stream of profanity and complained loudly about being so close to photographers. In the meantime, she had stripped down to bra and panties straight out of the "Telephone" video. The semi-clad diva was moved into Jerry Seinfeld's empty box and the comedian found out about it later. In an interview on WFAN radio, when the topic came up, Seinfeld said Lady Gaga "is a jerk." He said he couldn't believe that they put her in his box and said "I hate her," jokingly.

In a more serious vein, he did say that he is not the type of person who believes that all publicity is good: "... People talk about you need exposure -- you could die of exposure." About the singer's name, he also quipped, "... take one 'A' off of that and you've got gag."

Like a lot of other people, Jerry seems to think that bad behavior should not be rewarded: "You give people the finger and you get upgraded? Is that the world we're living in now?" he asked.

Jerry Seinfeld said he thinks that Lady Gaga has talent and that's why he doesn't understand why she needs to strip down in public and engage in outrageous behavior. It seems fairly evident that Lady Gaga would lose a fair amount of her fan base if she suddenly were to stop acting as if she should be the center of attention wherever she goes, engaging in whatever antics it takes to make that happen.

Lady Gaga stirred up another controversy at Yankee Stadium on Friday, June 18, showing up at the locker room with only a Yankees pinstripe jersey covering her bra and panties, reportedly under the influence and making quite a spectacle of herself. An infuriated Hal Steinbrenner, the Yankees co-chairman, wanted her banned. But the general manager for the Yankees, Brian Cashman, blamed the employees, not the nutty "Poker Face" singer.

Seinfeld does have a point. People get tired of the "wild child" routine, particularly when any given wild child has to keep thinking up new ways to top the last attention-getting stunt.

As for the bra and panties get-ups, Lady Gaga doesn't seem to have that many inhibitions to begin with, so she may want to watch her alcohol intake in public before she gets a drunken urge to take it all off and ends up with an indecent exposure ticket.

Gag me with a pitchfork. Gaga is a drag and has become an overnight drain. Jerry is correct, why is her behavior rewarded?

Sure, now every half dressed, boozed up bimbo will want to get into the Yankees clubhouse. Think the players would like that? Um, nevermind....

Lady Gaga flashing her no-nos? Oh no! I've never been too crazy for her music, but I think a lot of people might have said this about Madonna back when she was hot on the scene.
