Seinfeld Top 10 Episodes

GFCosmo
Since it's last episode aired in the Spring of 1998, nothing on television has come close to the originality and sheer brilliance of Seinfeld. It's reruns might still be one of the best things on TV. I have long been a fan of the show and still reminisce by throwing a DVD into the player. Even so many years later the show makes me laugh (which is amazing after who knows how many times I've watched them). Because of this, I've decided it was time to put together a list of my Top 10 episodes, which actually turned out to be much harder than I anticipated. There were just so many amazing episodes I had to leave out some of my favorites.

10 - The Bubble Boy
Season 4
George gets into a fight about Trivial Pursuit while Kramer accidentally burns down Susan's. What's not to love? It's a classic episode which still brings the laughs.

9 - The Opera
Season 4
While I was making this list, I discovered almost every episode starting in season four could have made this list. It just shows how the writing continued to improve while the stories grow more and more outlandish. This episode if full of great moments, like the reveal of George in his ultra small tuxcido and Elaine discovering she is being stalked by Crazy Joe Davola. However, the funnies part to me (and one of my favorite Kramer lines) is when Joe, dressed like a clown, asks Kramer if he's still scared of clowns. Kramer's response: "yeeeaaaaah." I love it.

8 - The Little Jerry
Season 8
Only Kramer would accidentally purchase a rooster, thinking it was a chicken, name it after his favorite neighbor and allow it to cockfight. Other episode highlights were George dating a female prisoner and Elaine finding out her boyfriend was going bald.

7 - The Doll
Season 7
George was always finding ways to postpone his marriage to Susan, while at the same time complaining every minute of the way. One legitimate complaint he had was when Susan moved in her doll collection with one doll in particular completely putting George off. It looked like his mother. And to make maters worse, Susan enjoyed sleeping with it. But not to worry, Frank soon came along to pull it's head off.

6 - The Marine Biologist
Season 5
This episode may possibly have the greatest crowd reaction of any moment in Seinfeld history. While George explains how he saved the life of a whale, he says he could see a problem with it's breathing, so he reached into the blow hole and pulled out the obstruction. At that moment, he pulls out a Titlist golf ball, which Kramer had been golfing with earlier. After the audience looses it for this moment and begins to die down, Michael Richards, with perfect timing says "well a hole in one."

5 - The Contest
Season 4
An example of fantastic Seinfeld writing, The Contest begins the top 5. The goal of every character is to outlast the other at being "Master of their domain," with each having unforeseen issues try and derail them. If The Marine Biologist has the funniest moment in Seinfeld history, this episode may have the second. After Kramer sees a naked woman across from Jerry's apartment window, he quietly sneaks off to his place. Not 30 seconds later comes back in, full arm slams his cash onto the counter top and states "that's it, I'm out of the contest."

4 - The Chicken Roaster
Season 8
Season 8 was filled with chickens, from littler Jerry to Kenny Roger's Roasters. Trouble brewed when the restaurant put up a giant red chicken sign across from Kramer's apartment. Kramer tried to put it out of business but soon fell head-over-heels in love with the food. As Newman put it, "it's the wood that makes it good." To top it all off, Jerry and Kramer switched apartments, which caused Jerry to begin acting like Kramer. George's side story of loosing the Russian hat Elaine purchased for him with company money was pretty good too.

3 - The Soup Nazi
Season 7
I realized most people would put this at the top of their lists, but the two I have in front I find to be just slightly funnier. However, this might be the most famous Seinfeld episode, with most people at least knowing of the 'soup nazi', even if they had never seen the show. Of course seeing Jerry choose soup over a woman is amazing, and the little segment of Newman running home to get a big pot for the remainder of the Soup Nazi's soup (after Elaine puts him out of business) is great.

2 - The Butter Shave
Season 9
I remember watching this episode when it first aired and being in stitches the entire time from laughing so hard. The episode is just so off-the-wall it's incredible. It still gets me going every time. The scene where Newman, sitting in the coffee shop, see's Kramer's face on a roaster turkey is absolutely hilarious.

1 - The Bottle Deposit (2 part episode)
Season 7
Maybe these episodes have an unfair advantage because there are two of them, but the foundation and crafting of the storyline is pure genius. Kramer and Newman cook up a scheme to take hundreds if not thousands of dollars in New York cans to Michigan to cash in on the 10 cent deposit. At the same time Elaine goes way overboard to outbid her archenemy Sue Ellen Mischke for a pair of JFK golf clubs, and Jerry's auto mechanic steals his car. The entire two part episode comes together amazingly.

Just missed the cut:
The Junior Mint, The Race, The Jimmy, The Gum, The Calzone, and The Blood.

Well that's my list. I thought long and hard about it. How does it stack up to yours and what would you change?

Solid list. I agree with most of your choices. I would have to include The Gum, which barely missed your list.
