Driving phobias often have very little to do with an individuals ability to drive, so education or practice on that front will not likely do a whole lot of good for the anxiety. The fear of driving must be confronted and combated where it exists - within the mind. You could try visiting a therapist or using a self-help program to work through your fears, or try herbal or prescription medication in an effort to quell your fear of driving, but these things may work or they may not and frequent therapist visits and months of medication can become quite costly. A better chance for success without doing too much damage to your wallet could lie in self hypnosis.
Regardless of your particular fear when it comes to driving, whether it has to do with passing over bridges, navigating your way on busy highways or simply just getting behind the wheel in the first place - the anxiety experienced can often lead to panic attacks, which can ultimately intensify the driving phobia in the long run.
In order for the fear of driving to be successfully combated, the driver must be able to reduce the anxiety each time they get behind the wheel and be able to have positive and successful driving experiences.
Contrary to popular belief, the best way to ease anxiety does not come in a child proof bottle that you pick up from the pharmacy. Prescription drugs used to treat anxiety and phobias often don't live up to the promises made by their manufacturers and many can have severe side effects and be terribly addictive. The best course of action lies within being able to control your own emotions and relax your own fears through processes like self hypnosis. Some self-help programs such as The Driving Fear Program which specialize in the treatment of driving disorders actually teach you powerful self hypnosis techniques using audio teaching.
Using self hypnosis will not affect you in any negative way; it is a one hundred percent natural, non addictive and highly effective method to help relieve the negative feeling associated with stress and anxiety. If you can harness the power of self hypnosis, the positive effects can be life altering. Self hypnosis can be used to relieve the stress associated with driving anxiety and help you cope with any other fears or stressful situations that you may encounter on a regular basis in your daily life.
