Notes:

Sharon Cohen creates Haiku in non-traditional 3, 5, 3 pattern to practice the art of pithiness and to break writer's block. She also bends and breaks the rules for traditional Haiku, adapting them to her own design as follows:

Haiku do not tell stories and almost never involve people's actions. Haiku simply convey an abstract concept -- usually an emotion.

Haiku will generally present contrast. Creating these contrasts can be the hardest part. The Haiku poet wants a perfect catalyst to spark the right emotional note.

Haiku usually focus around imagery. Sharon Cohen's Haiku is often paired with a photograph from which the Haiku is inspired.

Challenge for the Reader:

Relating to the photograph provided, the reader is challenged to submit their own Haiku of any style and pattern, in the comments section below.

I don't know how I missed this one. Thanks for adding the information at the end. I'm still mystified on the topic ofwriting a Haiku. Those of you who do, have my admiration.

Good one, good use of words. But I'm partial to the 5-7-5 scheme. I've started a haiku series about the apocalypse for each letter of the alphabet where every word begins with that letter. Talk about testing my haiku abilities. :)
