Self-Center

"Imagine."

She whispers. "Imagine
a world without art. Imagine
an existence where words
have no weight - a place
without picture for eye or ear,
where leaves are dead
vegetables - where no thoughts
from before, from after,
matter."

"Imagine
beings being bereft
of reflection,
of contemplation."

"Imagine."
She says. Bones -
man who can imagine
the unimaginable,
can only stare back -

blank
in self-centered
unimaginability.
