Sell Advertisement on Your Blog and Start Making Money Online

Rosa Hayes
Selling advertisement on your blog is a lot easier than some might expect. I sell advertisement from all of my blogs and it can actually be set up so that you continue to make monthly or weekly income from this. Many bloggers sell advertisement from their blogs as a way of making money online. Making money online through blog advertisement can be done through blog post, text links, banners, or picture ads, and sponsored post. I will explain all three and then you can decide what kind of advertisement that you want to sell on your blog. After I explain the different advertisement methods I will tell you how you can make money online through selling advertisement on your blog.

Text Links

Text links are a form of blog advertisement that you can place on your sidebar. These are a short sentence, name, or saying that has a link attached to it so that when someone clicks on it they will be taken to that specific website. Text link ads are good for those who don't want to use a lot of room on their blogs but they are not often sold for as much as other advertisements such as banners. I use this method to sell advertisement on my blogs and I charge $5 but I do it through a tipping jar. You can go to gajemaster.com and look to the right on the sidebar and take note of the widget that says "get into my top spots", I will explain this a little later in this article.

Banners

Banners are usually a picture with some words on them and when people click on the banner they will be taken to that website that is advertised on the banner. Banners are good for blogs that wish to add a little bit of color and most bloggers get paid more for using these but they can also take up more room on your blog. I use banners on my blogs since they often drive people to their advertisement and I make money online through this.

Picture ads

This is simply a picture that is placed on your blog that is usually interesting enough for people to want to click on. Picture ads usually sell for less than banners but more than text links.

Now that we know what some of the ways that you can sell advertisement on your blog, let's talk about how you can do this.

Sponsored post

Sponsored posts are when someone pays you to write a post on your blog similar to a review but they pay you to add a link back to their site or product.

Paid to post

Many websites like sponsoredreviews.com and payperpost.com allow you to make money from writing sponsored post on your blog. There has been a lot of hype over whether or not this is a good method of blogging and if Google will lower your page rank because of it. I have come to the realization that a Google page rank doesn't really mean much since I have seen top bloggers have a low page rank but still are able to draw in the traffic. The traffic and the clicks are what you should be worried about and not the page rank. I have also seen someone who had a page rank of 0 and rank number one for a certain key word. As long as you are ranking in the top for your keywords then you will know that you are doing your part to make your blog a good one.

Advertisement through text links

If you have checked out my blog at gajemaster.com you will notice a "be in my tops spot" widget on the right. The widget that I use doesn't allow any interference with Google Adsense since it is a donation widget and not actually selling. The way that it works is that people tip you and get a link back to their blog or site. There are other places like textlinkads.com that allow you to do the same thing. When people pay you for the link the company usually takes their cut and sends you the rest.

Selling advertisement through banners

I actually use my banner space to promote referral sites that I am a part of and this is the easiest way to add banners to your blog. There are many plugins for wordpress and websites that can help you to sell banners on your blog. Most of the banners will be empty until someone purchases them but it will have something that says "want to purchase advertisement" or something like that. The price you set will be up to you or up to the company that helps you set this up.
Stealing stuff from other blogs

I am always surfing around on the internet looking for the next big thing and sometimes I come up with easier methods to sell advertisement on my blog. If you roam around on other blogs you might find a few things that you like and want to get in on that action. Most advertisement has a link that shows you were the ad block was gotten from so click on the link if you are curious and want to add something similar to your blog.
