Sell Me Christmas

A Poem About Christmas

J L Carey Jr
Sell me Christmas-
I want you to sell me Christmas,
Like Elvis sold it.
Make me feel good
To be blue about it.

Sell me Christmas-
I need you to sell me Christmas,
With an old fashioned spirit.
Have me buy the way
Our parents bought it.

Sell me Christmas-
I'd love you to sell me Christmas,
No matter the cost of it;
The red or black's
Indicative mood of it.

Sell me Christmas-
I beg you to sell me Christmas.
One Troy ounce of it
May stir the blood again
And somehow resurrect it.

I felt like this, too...then, I watched my nephews open their gifts and caught a glimpse of that old magic again.
