SellDIY.com: Post Items for Auction

Free No Fees!!!

Niki
Selling on eBay has become a big money-maker, and many similar websites have popped up hoping to copy eBay's success. I personally think people aren't making as much as we have heard about on eBay, unless you are selling a lot of items at a high mark-up you will lose money to eBay's and paypal's fees. Because of that, when I was looking to sell some old CD's and Books I decided to try selling them on a free auction site and not on eBay. I found a lot of free auction sites, the main problem with them is low traffic, and some of them only have like fifty items listed.

One that looks a lot like eBay, and has many items listed is http://www.selldiy.com/. However, on this site when you list something, you can set the price for negotiate or have a set price. They are an only a venue like eBay, and do not own or handle any goods listed on the site. To bid or sell items on this site you must register, which is free. You will have to supply the usual information about your self like name, address, and email address (must be a valid address, you are sent a verification email). Like registering, listing an item is free, there are no fees on the final amount that the item sold for, and no fees for multiple quantity listings. Setting up your auctions is easy. You can pay for feature listing, however, fees for feature listing on SellDIY are much cheaper than eBay. If you need more than the two free pictures you are allowed you can get additional pictures for 0.05 cents each additional picture, and 0.95 cents for bold listings. Note: you must be 18 to use this site, anyone under 18 wanting to buy or sell must do so under an adults (parent or guardians) name, and with their supervision.

When you register, you will be agreeing to their membership agreement. That agreement basically states that SellDIY may change or remove any member sign-up name at their (SellDIY) sole discretion. That 'you ' are responsible for any information you post, and that any content or information you post on the SellDIY.com will be true and up-to-date, nor will it be fraudulent, violate any law, statute ordinance, or regulation, etc...

Do not let the wording in the membership agreement scare you; it is pretty much the same as eBay's and any other auction site. They just have to make sure you realize that they cannot verify or endorse the quality of anything posted for auction; neither can the eBay (I have been ripped off on eBay). Like anything online, you are trusting that the person selling is truthful and not going to swindle you. You can turn members in that you think are breaking the rules, which we all hope will keep the rift-raft away. To avoid having your member terminated, make sure you read and understand the listing guidelines, because there are some things that you may never sell on SellDIY.com like fireworks and ammunition, police items, Government ID's, etc...

I had over 20 CD's and books for sale of SellDIY.com and only sold about half, but I didn't pay any fees. It took longer than I would have liked (three weeks), I think that is do to low traffic, but sites like these will eventually put eBay out of business, or at least force them to lower their fees. So, if you have a few things that you want to sell, give a free auction site a chance.
