Selling My Diamond - Get the Best Deal when You Sell Your Diamond

Archie
A while after my last relationship broke up I ended with the diamond engagement ring that I previously gave my fiancee back in my hands. It was not my idea but she insisted that I should have it back. After several months I decided to sell my diamond ring. The reasons why you may want to sell a diamondare numerous. Maybe you suffered from a relationship break up like me or perhaps you need some cash for other things in life. Whatever your reasons, what really matters is that you get the best possible offer for your diamond. I will explain how I got the best possible deal when I was selling my diamond engagement ring.

The first step I took and is one of the wisest that you can take is to get your diamond appraised. Have it appraised by two or three jewelers. A second opinion is very valuable tell your jeweler that you are interested in the Rapaport Value. This value represents the whole sell value and will give you an idea of how much you can sell it for. If your diamond has no certificate, you should seriously consider getting one from GIA.

At first, you should consider selling the diamond yourself to friends and family. Avoid pawn shops at all costs. Pawn shops will only pay you around 10% of the real value of your diamond and avoid recurring to other people to sell it. Scams are everywhere especially when it comes to expensive jewelry and precious stones.

If no one you know is interested you should consider selling it online. Personally, I was a little hesitant to sell my diamond online. Fortunately, this is how I got the best deal for it. You may consider selling it on a good auction site like Christie's or Sotheby's. If you do not think that your diamond is not as important or valuable you may even consider selling it through Ebay.

The other option and sometimes the easiest is to go to a jewelry. Be really sure that the diamond never gets out of your site. Again, it is very easy to get scammed by getting your diamond switched only to find out at another jewelry store when the owner says its fake. Now assuming that the jeweler is interested in your diamond, probably you will be tried to be tricked in to thinking that your diamond is poor, low quality of perhaps that it has a low weight. Now its the right time to take out your certificate. Negotiate a deal where you can get from60% to 80% of the Rapaport Value. Do not accept anything lower than this. The higher the better. If the offers is too low find another place to sell it.

I sold a ring to www.EngagementRingCycling.com through the mail and it was very smooth. A friend of mine had used them and had a good transaction as well.

i am trying to sell a somewhat valuable (5K) diamond and online jewelers with legit looking websites and mailing addresses have offered the best deals. But, how do i protect myself sending a stone 1000 miles away? How do I know if it is a scam or not?
