If you are planning to sell your house, now is definitely a time where buyers are in control. You have to do everything you can make to sure your house stands out when compared to other houses for sale. Most houses for sale are not well taken care of and have terrible curb appeal. Make your house look better in comparison by focusing on curb appeal. If you don't have very much money to spend, there are a few cheap and easy ways to stand out and give your buyer a positive first impression.

Improve curb appeal by redoing your lawn
The first thing buyers notice when coming up to your house is the lawn. If you have a lush, green lawn out front, it will help the buyer overlook some of your other deficiencies. Who doesn't want a greener lawn than their neighbor, right? If you have the lawn looking good, a buyer will think he can keep it that way. You can put new sod in, but if you don't have the money to spend you definitely want to get the weeds pulled and put some grass seed down. Another tip if you don't have the money: Just lay sod in the front yard, not the back.

Pressure wash siding and sidewalks
After the lawn, buyers want to see a clean house. If you don't have the money to paint outside or to replace the siding, just power wash it. You'll be surprised at the difference this makes. While you're at it, power wash your sidewalk and driveway. Your curb appeal will dramatically improve just by having your house and walkway shine. It will help you sell your house.

Sell your house by putting in new mulch
If you don't want to spend the money to put in new flowers and plants, just put new mulch down. Buyers will use their imagination on what types of plants they would like to put in, but there's nothing worse than a buyer just seeing weeds and dirt. A thick layer of mulch will make the areas around your house look much better.

Replace your mailbox
Let's face it, when is the last time you thought about your mailbox? Chances are it's old and rusty and the post is damaged. You may no longer notice it, but a buyer will. Get a nice new mailbox and fix the post. This bright, new fixture is inexpensive and will be a welcoming symbol to buyers.

Paint your front door and trim
You may not have the money to paint the whole house outside, but can you swing just doing the doors and trim? Just by doing the doors and trim, the curb appeal of you house will be dramatically improved and it will greatly help you sell your house. Think of how much brighter your house will be with the trim freshly painted, and think about how much more inviting the house will be when the front door looks great.

Now may be a difficult time to sell your house, but these cheap and easy tricks will improve your curb appeal and give a much better impression to buyers. You don't have to break the bank to give yourself a better chance of selling your house.
