Have you really looked at these online auction sites? They sell almost everything. If you are interested they probably have someone selling it.
But what is the one thing that you can sell that practically grows in your backyard? You can sell the seeds from your plants. Have you ever looked at seeds on the online auction sites? There is someone selling seeds.
Are you going to get rich selling seeds? The answer is more than likely no. But that still doesn't mean that you can't sell a few seeds for a few dollars. It is a great way to make a few extra dollars at the end of your growing season.
People are selling all types of seeds. But if you look they are selling a few seeds for a small price plus shipping. You can do the same.
One way to make a few extra dollars from your seeds is to enter your plants in contests. If your flowers or vegetables are winners you can point that out in your description. This will make your seeds more valuable.
Another way to get seeds is to look at your neighbors gardens and ask them for some of their seeds. This is an excellent source of free seeds. And dare we say free money.
But don't stop there consider the contests that you didn't enter. Maybe someone has a prize pumpkin, you should check to see if you can't get seeds from them. So check this years fairs and festivals the possibilities are really endless.
One word of caution, make sure that where you are sending the seeds allows you to ship seeds from your area to the buyers' area. Just check with the local agricultural department for the area you are shipping them.
Now when you see your growing season ending don't think about the cleanup of the dead plants but think of the few dollars that are growing out of your flowers and vegetables. It won't make you rich but it may pay for next years plants!
So good luck on your new sales. You never know what will sell but always keep an open mind. Don't forget to take pictures.

Nice article. I've found some really cool heirloom veggie seeds on ebay before. Carla Emery's book, The Encylopedia of Country Living, has a lot of good tips about saving and storing seeds too.
