Sen. Clinton Has a Few Missteps in Recent Days

The Authenticity of Our Candidates

Ten days ago, potential Democratic Presidential candidate, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, gave a speech on foreign policies. Yesterday, she came under fire from the media from the exaggerated facts in her role as First Lady of the United States back when her husband Bill Clinton was the President. Her first mistake was an exaggerated story about her trip to war torn Bosnia in 1996. She stated in her speech that she landed under heavy fire and that a planned meet and greet had to be postponed. Various news outlets produced video of her trip and showed the ex-First Lady greeting patrons and shaking hands. She also went through with the meet-and-greet with no problems. These tactics are just some of the attempts to gain votes of confidence in this heated Presidential candidacy race. Will these calculated missteps cost these candidates the Presidency?

This is development comes on the heels of the recent findings about Barak Obama's allegiance to controversial preacher Jeremiah Wright. While Obama has stated that he does attend the church and that he does support Pastor Jeremiah Wright, he does disagree with the fiery preacher's stance on America. People have wondered why Obama hasn't addressed this issue before hand. This has called a lot of media and concerned individuals to call into play the issue of influences and race into the already heated Democratic candidacy race. These recent findings on the campaign trail have had public relation representatives scrambling for quick answers and frequent interviews. These recent findings are a necessary part in the process of finding the best candidate to represent the country for the next 4 years.

Sen. McCain is also no stranger to the controversy bug. In a recent trip to Amman, Jordan, Sen. McCain spoke on the training of Al Qaeda members in Iran. He stated that they train in Iran and go back to Iraq with financing. The fact of the matter was that they don't train Al Qaeda. They train extremists. The Al Qaeda is a Sunni Muslim insurgent group. They are a separate group from Shiites, which most of Iran is. This caused him in the same interview to recant the statement and apologize for the misstep. These small mistakes in facts have made some people believe that Sen. McCain is not really in the loop and prepared to deal with the growing times of the still tense Middle East.

With all of these different controversies and developments, the American people have a call to hold candidates to every statement that is given to the public. This Presidential race is one of the most exciting and hard fought political campaigns of the past few decades. With a high turn out of new voters and more involvement with repeat voters, candidates will have to put their best foot forward and meet the public on a very human level. They must present answer to the problems that are hurting this great country. The candidate who presents themselves in the most accessible light will be the one to make it to the next level in government. We will have to see who that is.
