Send Vintage Postcards as Free E-Cards from Cardcow.Com

It's not difficult to find free e-cards and e-greetings; just doing a cursory search on Google, I found about a zillion sites, several with recognizable brands, like Hallmark and Blue Mountain. I am confident most of the sites have great, traditional, and even innovative e-cards. However, for those looking for more unusual, free e-cars, with an authentically vintage twist, I have found just the website for you.

Cardcow.com is a site that features thousands of vintage postcards and collectibles. It is a commercial site; the postcards and items are for sale. However, the postcard images can all be used as e-cards. Even the cards that are marked as sold are available as e-cards!

I have used the cardcow.com e-card service many times, and it is very simple to use, similar to any other service. The site is very user-friendly, and easily navigable. Especially nice is the organization and categories of the postcards.

There are dozens of categories, including: animals, flowers and plants, specific holidays (even very minor ones), real photographs, hotels, expositions, cowboy, churches, celebrities, military, pin-ups, music, and art. That's just a few; there are many more. Also present is a key word search option. You can search by anything that might strike your e-card recipient's fancy-dog breeds, celebrity and town names, etc.

Between the categories, search option, and sheer number of postcards, it is easy and fun to pick out very meaningful and personalized e-cards. One great thing about using cardcow.com is-it's actually enjoyable and entertaining to browse and find images.

It's a bit like digging through old diaries, or rummaging through real postcards at an antique shop; most (if not all) of the postcards have both sides of each card available for viewing-so you can read the original message from sender to recipient.

As well as the e-card option, cardcow.com allows you to download the postcard images as wallpaper. Also provided are codes for embedding the postcard images in your blog, MySpace page, or website. Best of all-it's all free.

Altogether, cardcow.com is a very well-maintained, organized and fabulous website. Even if you have no immediate need for an e-card, it's worth a look. Postcard collectors, ephemera and general vintage goods fans will get lost in page after page of great old postcards.

So, instead of sending the tired old animated puppy dogs, couple walking on a beach, or bouquet of roses, opt for something unique, authentic, and personalized-an e-card from cardcow.com. You might even find one you'd like to purchase!
