Colorado Springs, senior center, sits on the corner of Camarillo and Hancock roads. The address is 1514 North Hancock avenue. The senior center sits inside a larger business complex. There are no signs and addresses are difficult to see. Remember the corner of Hancock and Camarillo.
Services
Fingernail and toenail clipping services are offered at the Colorado Springs senior center. If you would like to take advantages of those services, call and make an appointment. 719 385-5933
Classes
Art classes are taught at the senior center and the students' work is often on display throughout the building. Many art students sell their work at the center and are reasonably priced. The senior center doesn't accept debit cards.
Exercise
The exercise room is quite large and has dance mirrors and a wood floor. There are a few weight machines in the room. The exercise room stays busy Monday thru Friday. Monday and Thursdays are functional fitness days. These exercises are designed to make your everyday movements easier. Range of motion, balance and muscle endurance is the emphasis of this class. The class is $28.00 for an eight-week class.
Drawing and Painting
If you have never tried to draw or paint, there is always time to participate in an art class. You might find a new way to relax. As you learn how to combine shapes and shades, the focus steers away from the everyday troubles, and gives your mind a small space of peace. The senior center in Colorado Springs offers many art classes. Fridays; 9:30-11:30 a.m. is the watercolor class. The six-week class costs $55.00 plus your supplies. You will learn watercolor basics along with traditional and experimental techniques.
Computers
The computer room is stocked and up to date with modern technology. If you have a computer at home but are not sure how to use it, sign up for a class.
Computer Class
Understanding your PC, will guide you in the basics and beyond of operating Windows XP. You will learn about setting and what to do about viruses. The instructor will cover how to defrag your hard drive, creating icons and more. The class meets on Wednesdays, 2:45-4:45. The cost is $11.00 for the four-week class.
Meals
Lunch is served at the Colorado Springs senior center Monday thru Friday. There is a $2.00 donation for the lunch. The meals are hot, freshly cooked and delicious.
