Senior Citizens Centers in Roseville & Sacramento, California

Senior centers have become more than just a place for seniors to share a meal. Leisure enrichment programs such as ballroom dancing, woodwork, and yoga provide exercise for the mind and body. Assistance is available to help seniors fill out Social Security, Medicare, and tax forms. These three senior centers are centrally located, and give seniors a variety of programs and services to fit their needs.

Ethel MacLeod Hart Senior Center- Located in the greater Sacramento area, this multipurpose senior center features activities from ages 50-90. Chat with the friendly staff as you review the day's activities. Fitness classes are offered Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Courses range from balance and strengthening, to Feldenkrais, Healing Qigong Practice, and T'ai Chi. Meet new people at the Friendship Café. Nutritious meals are often accompanied by live entertainment. Leisure enrichment activities include Tole Painting, Irish Dance, and Life History Writing. The Triple 'R' Adult Day Program offers companionship and a safe, caring environment to those with memory problems and frailty. The Hart Senior Fun Pass is provided for those seniors who need financial help to pay for activities. Cordova Recreation & Park District Senior Activity Center- Kung Fu, Line Dance, Oil Painting, Bridge, and Ballroom Dance are just a few of the many classes offered. The library and lounge have many books and magazines for your reading pleasure. There is also television, and a pool table. The Senior Citizen All Seasons Café features lunch Monday thru Friday. Requested meal donation is $2.00 for those 60 and over and $5.00 for those under 60. The center is located at 3480 Routier Rd in Sacramento.

Maidu Community/Senior Center- Seniors can join the Maidu Senior Association and participate in a variety of free ongoing programs. Annual fees are $24 for Roseville residents and $30 for non-residents. Subscriptions to the bi-monthly newsletter Vintage News and Views are available for $6 per year. Some of the activities offered include a Spring Fling Dance, April Showers Dance, Quilt Workshop, and Better Gardens Club. Monthly activity calendars are available in the newsletter. Ongoing programs include Game Day, Maidu Singers, Bingo, Chess, Knit/Crochet Circle, and Bridge. Support groups also meet at the Senior Center. These include Alzheimer's, Caregivers, Widowed Persons, Visually Impaired, and Parkinson's. Recreation and Respite provides a variety of activities and lunch to give caregivers a break.
