St. Andrew' Nursing Home on College Avenue is one of the largest and most well-known senior citizens homes in Conway. The building is extremely large and looks very regal and elegant instead of institutional. The elegant atmosphere continues though to the lobby, which is furnished with comfortable chairs and televisions. Many residents spend a good portion of their day socializing in the lobby. St. Andrew's Nursing Home offers 24 hour nursing care, including intensive care for non-ambulatory residents. Medication supervision is given and there are frequent outings for residents that are in good health. Cosmetologist and barber services are available on site weekly.
Salem Place Nursing and Rehab on Christina Lane has long term residents as well as residents that are only staying for a short time. The facility has a strong focus on rehabilitating residents from traumatic brain injuries, heart attacks and strokes. The goal at Salem Place is to rehab patients to such a degree that they may return home. If a return to their homes are not possible, Salem Place Nursing and Rehab offers full medical support for long term residents. Occupational and physical therapy are available on site. Frequent activities include special music programs, shopping trips and visits to local attractions. Salem Place has an extensive program to reteach residents activities of daily living, such as dressing and bathing.
Heritage Living Center on Morningside Drive offers more flexibility and options than many homes. More than a nursing home, Heritage Living Center also offers assisted living to seniors that need a little extra assistance with the actives of daily living, but don't need full time nursing care. The assisted Living wing offers seniors a chance to live in their own small apartment, cook their own meals and maintain a measure of independence. Housekeeping and laundry services are provided, and meal service is provided for those who choose not to cook. There is a nurse on call 24 hours a day to help with any emergency medical issues.
If a resident needs 24 hour care, Heritage Living Center also offers traditional nursing home services. Medical care is coordinated through the resident's physician. Games and other activities are offered in the main assembly room. A hair stylist is brought in once a week for an additional fee. Specialized meal service is available for residents with special dietary needs.
All three of the senior citizens homes in Conway, Arkansas that are mentioned in this article are certified by the state to provide medical care and all accept private insurance as well as Medicare and Medicaid payments.
