Choosing a retirement home is not an easy thing to do. You have to consider life style, medical care, location. It is great that there are so many more choices available now. Albany New York has some of the best Senior living options available. They all cater to seniors of very degree of independence, provide access to top notch medical care, meals, transportation, community activities, on site shopping and a wide choice of living arrangements.
Be sure to look at different choices. They all will allow you to take a tour. Make up your list of important features, especially about medical care. Be prepared to be on waiting lists for some of them also, so be sure to give yourself plenty of time to make a decision.

Ohav Sholom is a HUD subsidized development and anyone applying must meet HUD requirements. If you do, then the rents start at $372, Including Heat and Hot Water. There are efficiency and one bedroom apartments. All apartments have a private balcony and a Kitchens With Electric Range and Refrigerator. They do not have on site medical care, but Drs and medical centers are close by. They have many activities daily, a library, beauty shop and convenience store.

The Beltrone Living Center gives you many different apartment options all the way from a studio / One Bath an up like this, One Bedroom / One Bath, Two Bedroom / One Bath, Two Bedroom / Two Bath, Two Bedroom / Two Bath Suite, Two Bedroom / Two Bath Suite w/Balcony. Franciscan Heights is a new community and they only have a few apartments and cottages still available. Some have income restrictions and the age here is 55, so this has some differences to the normal retirement community. Like Avila, it is a village on 85 private acres. They are conducting tours, so if you are interested get in tough with them as soon as possible.

    That's because the article was written in December of 2006. Back then, there were apartments available. Get your name on the list. The demand for senior citizen living has increased over the last couple of years. Good Luck.

    While reading the lower paragraph, it states that there are still apartments available and yet I have been told that there are none.
