Roseburg has beautiful surroundings, moderate temperatures, lots of nice restaurants, shopping centers and friendly people. Located in Southwestern Oregon with a population of over 20,000, Roseburg is a part of the hundred valleys of the Umpqua. In Roseburg, you can climb a mountain, raft a river or catch a salmon in some of the most picturesque areas of the Pacific Northwest. The many lakes, rivers and reservoirs of Douglas County provide an abundant amount of boating and fishing settings, especially on the beautiful North Umpqua, a river that is famous among fishermen.

The North Umpqua offers fishing opportunities for trout, salmon, bass, and is one of the world's only rivers with a native run of summer steelhead. We have many beautiful mountains that make great places to hunt or just admire all of God's creations. If you love hunting or fishing or just the great outdoors, you will love Douglas County! Activities and Events!

Get a taste of Douglas County by touring some of the region's many wineries, which grow chardonnay, pinot noir, getwürztraminer, riesling, zinfandel and cabernet sauvignon varietals. We have several great wineries!

If you like fresh fruits & vegetables we have several fruit stands and a farmers market once a week on Saturday morning starting in the late spring or early summer. These are places where you can get some delicious food at great prices.

There are several golf courses around the Douglas County area, and excellent parks, so you can have some great picnics, go for long walk, or play some tennis, whatever you desire. During the summer, there are a variety of music concerts in the park, the first part of July there is Graffiti Weekend (which features thousands of vintage automobiles that parade through the downtown area, along with Show and Shine and a special concert at the casino. Other interesting places to visit is the Wild Life Safari but be sure and take your camera along to get some great pictures of the wild animals that roam the 600 acre park or stop by the Safari education center and theatre, then feed some animals at the children's petting zoo.

Either before entering the Safari or when leaving be sure and check out Noah's Ark which has a restaurant and gift shop, and lies just south of the Safari entrance. You and your guests are sure to love both of these places. Located near the Fairgrounds just a little north of the Safari is the nationally acclaimed Douglas County Museum of History and Natural History which is sure to be of interest to family and friends. Last of not least during the month of August we have our annual Douglas County Fair that lasts for 5 days, and caters to seniors on Wednesday with special prices and events. You will surely enjoy this event.

We also have the Umpqua Valley Arts Association which offers classes in most artistic areas including painting, life drawing and ceramics. The Arts Center is a fun place for adults and children to learn more about art and culture. On campus you'll find an art gallery, full ceramics studio, gift gallery, artists studios and a variety of art programs for people of all ages.

Activities in Roseburg include a variety of live theatrical and musical productions which are presented throughout the year by the Umpqua Actors Community Theater and the Umpqua Community College theater department, as well as musical entertainment provided by the Roseburg Community Concert Association and the Umpqua Valley Symphony Association.

If you love the beach, the Pacific Ocean is just a short distance away. There are many National Parks for picnicking or camping, great fishing, crabbing, excellent speciality shops or you can just go for a stroll on the sandy beaches.
