Richmond and the surrounding area are perfect for those seniors who enjoy active and independent lifestyles. Within the city limits there are numerous cultural attractions, including the Museum of the Confederacy and the Richmond Science Museum, and lots of shopping and dining destinations, including fashionable malls, upscale restaurants, and the historic Shockoe Bottom District. Paramount's King's Dominion theme park is a short drive north, providing a great location to spend a day. While the amusement rides may not be a senior's idea of a great time, the different entertainment options are suitable for all ages. A little bit more to the north is our nation's capital, Washington, D.C. From historical monuments to the Smithsonian Institution's museums, and from the halls of Congress to the National Archives, there is no better place to enjoy our nation's rich history.
To the east, Colonial Williamsburg features a historic area based on colonial period life, including costumed actors who play the roles of colonists living and conducting business in a colonial town. Also to the east is the Jamestown Settlement, a recreation of the lives of some of America's first settlers. Attractions include replicas of the ships used by the settlers to travel the ocean to the New World, a museum, a recreated fort, and a replica Indian village. And, for those seniors who enjoy a bit more of historical flair, the Yorktown battlefield offers a museum, battlefield tour, replica colonial farm, and a recreated military encampment.
Richmond is the perfect place to spend your senior years, and Sunrise offers a wonderful opportunity for quality living.
