Taking Care of Business

Gundy
What is responsibility? Responsibility is taking care of business and all of the little things we do without even knowing. Every person has responsibilities, but different ways to maintain them. This is not always a good thing nor is it a bad thing. However, there is a common ground for which we all should meet and follow for responsibility.

A responsibility that we all should have is to work hard at everything we do. No matter what the situation is or how much you despise it, you should never put less than your full effort into it. For example, if I did not put in my full one hundred percent on this paper, then I would not get the grade which I deserve. When you do not give it your all, it shows that you are weak and irresponsible. Irresponsibility is a horrible trait to have and it seems to be a disease amongst students and adults everywhere. Life can be rough already, so why would you want to make it harder on yourself? Graduation is the turning point in your life, and you can only reach that point with consistent hard work. Just put forth your best effort and you will be fine, but working hard is only one of the many ways to be responsible.

Taking care of business means many different things which are all important. It means solving problems which you face in your life. It is also your responsibility to not make any excuses and to be completely honest all the time. Honesty and integrity are traits which every individual who looks to graduate need to have. Another thing is you must learn from your mistakes and accept when you do something wrong. You cannot get to where you want to go if you have not accepted where you have been. Responsibility is solving problems, being honest, and learning from your mistakes, but it is also doing the little things which go unnoticed.

So many little things that you do subconsciously are important to showing that you are responsible. Staying awake throughout all your classes in a school day is responsibility. Never talking back to a teacher or being disruptive in class is another example. When you do something without being asked, that shows that you are doing what needs to be done. Responsible people take control of situations; taking out the trash when it is full without having your parents motivate you to do it is an example. You might not ever notice that you do these things, but they are crucial to molding you into a respectable, responsible, honest person. These things are all part of responsibility and they may go unnoticed to you, but they will not to the others around you as you make your way out into the world.

In conclusion, responsibility is a huge part of our lives. It is taking care of business by working hard, solving problems, and being honest. It is also doing the intangible things such as staying awake in school, never talking back, never being disruptive, and doing things without being told. If you can do all these things to be a responsible person, then your life and road to graduation will be much easier.
