Seniors Soften Facial Wrinkles on Dry Aging Skin

Aging Takes a Toll on Many Parts of Our Body. One of the Most Unsightly is Facial Wrinkles

Sondra C
Dry skin can start from any substance lacking in a Seniors aging body. If Seniors drink too little water their skin becomes dehydrated and they end up with facial skin that looks like a prune - dry and full of wrinkles.

The At-Home Treatment

The treatment for eliminating extremely dry and aging skin in a Senior is simple. It does not have to cost a lot of money or consume a great deal of time. You do not have to go to a cosmetologist or a skin doctor to get the help you need. There are a few simple steps to follow and you will not look like twenty-five again, but you can have softer looking skin and less wrinkles- not only on the face, but on the neck and hands as well.

Never Bathe in Hot Water

Seniors should shower or bathe in cool water. Never use hot water on your skin. It dries the outer layer as it cleans it. Do not use soap or soap products on your face or body for the same reason as above.

Treat Your Skin Kindly

Use any type of skin moisturizer on your entire body immediately after you get out of the bath or shower. This works best because the skin pores are open. You do not need to spend a lot of money to buy an expensive product. Check your local drugstore and read the contents of the skin products on their shelf.

Use Any of the Named Familiar Brands

I use Gold Bond Ultimate Softening Shea Butter. I buy this at the counter in Walgreen's. It works great. I also use it on my face after I wash it before going to bed. I have also used Este Lauder and products with the Walgreen name. I am one of those aging Seniors

Any Type of Moisturizer Will Do

Any type of body moisturizer, even if advertised to be used on the face, will work. Today I used Dove Damage accidentally-ii is advertised as a hair conditioner- all over my body. It was on my bathroom counter so I grabbed it. I did not have my glasses on and could not read what it was used for. I am going to use it again after my shower. If it is good to treat damaged hair, it is good for my aging senior body as well. My skin still feels soft and smooth and it is the end of the day.

Use a Body Brush For Hard to Reach Places

If you find it painful to bend or stoop over, as comes with age, buy a bath brush in Target, Walgreen's or your local Supermarket. It does not have to be expensive. Any long handled brush will do-even if it is meant to be a toilet bowl brush. It's never been used so so refer to it as a body brush. Who will know the difference and who will care?

Pour some of the skin softener product onto the brush, and rub it on your back, legs, arms or any part of the body you cannot reach. Trust me, it feels invigorating. Do not use the brush on your face or other delicate parts of the body!

Drink Water Daily

Drink at least 6 glasses of water a day. This does not include soda, wine or beer. Just plain H20 is what your body needs. If you do not like to drink water, add food flavoring, a bit of orange or lemon juice or a little honey to the water.

My Own Made-up Idea

At night, while I am watching television I squeeze a small amount any type of body lotion that is handy. I even use cuticle cream. I rub some into the palms of my hand and use my fingers to gently rub it onto my hands, legs, toes or any other dry spots.

Sum it All Up and Save Money

Think about it. Just because a skin lubricant happens to have on the label to be used to soften the feet, does not mean it would not soften the hands, toes or any other part of the body of an aging Senior. Why spend money on buying a multitude of skin products. If they work on one part of the body they will work on more. I find that a product advertised to smooth the heels, works wonders on my elbows as well. Why should an aging Senior pay for separate products?

There are many changes that occur to the human body as it ages. One of the easiest things to prevent is wrinkles on the face, neck and arms. Use moisturizer or skin lotion, take a cool and not hot water bath. Smoking causes wrinkles on your upper lip.

You are right about the H20 and moisturizer and hot water and harsh soaps. Thanks for the reminders. It's really best to start all of these activities while young and it makes life easier when you get older.
