1. Happy's Flea Market - Known as Virginia's oldest and largest flea market, Happy's Flea Market offers over 100 shops and vendors inside their building as well as numerous vendors outside in the outdoor market area and can best be described as being "part-carnival, part shopping mall." This interesting establishment has a little bit of everything in a variety of price ranges for all of those who are on your Christmas shopping list.
Open year round, Happy's Flea Market is located at 5411 Williamson Road in Roanoke, Virginia, and their main office can be reached at 540-563-4473. The flea market building is open Tuesday through Sunday from 8am-5pm, and the outdoor market is open from 6:30am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday. Both of these areas are closed on Mondays.
Happy's has on-site parking available, and a restaurant and public restrooms are provided for your shopping pleasure. When you have some time to spare and want a fascinating shopping experience, pay Happy's a visit.
2. Dixie Caverns Gift Shop, Pottery, and Antique Mall - Located near the entrance of one of the only caverns in southwestern Virginia, Dixie Caverns Gift Shop, Pottery, and Antique Mall hosts a wide assortment of delightfully different gift ideas. If you have a rock and mineral or pottery lover on your list, Dixie Caverns Gift Shop and Pottery is the place to be. For those gift recipients who prefer to collect items from days gone by, Dixie Caverns Antique Mall offers a lovely selection of goodies from which to choose. The prices in all of these shops are incredibly reasonable and very shopper-friendly.
Dixie Caverns Gift Shop, Pottery, and Antique Mall are located at 5753 West Main Street in Salem, VA, and the gift shop and pottery can be reached at 540-380-2085 while the antique mall's phone number is 540-380-5800. These businesses are open from 9am-7pm in the summer and early fall (June 1 - October 15) and from 9am-5pm in the late fall, winter, and spring (October 16 - May 31) every day of the week.
On-site parking is available. If you are traveling through the area and have an RV or a tent, Dixie Caverns also has a campground at which you can stay for a very reasonable price. When you have the opportunity, stop in at Dixie Caverns and pick up some unique and wonderful gifts for those special people on your holiday list.
3. George C. Marshall Museum Gift Shop at Virginia Military Institute - Located on the Virginia Military Post in Lexington, Virginia (a town that is approximately 45 minutes north down I-81 from Roanoke), the George C. Marshall Museum Gift Shop offers a number of gift items that would be appropriate for individuals of all ages. From historical memorabilia to books to mini-survival kits to even sweet, fluffy stuffed dogs that the toddlers and children in your life would enjoy, this store provides unique gift possibilities for just about everyone for whom you are Christmas shopping, and the prices are quite economical as well.
The George C. Marshall Museum Gift Shop can be found on the campus of the Virginia Military Institute inside the George C. Marshall Museum. You can reach a staff member by calling 540-463-2083. The hours of operation for this gift shop are from 9am-5pm Tuesday through Saturday.
You can park on the curb in front of the museum, and if you have the time and would like to do so, you can tour the museum for a small fee. If you are a history or military buff, I highly recommend taking a drive around the historic VMI campus.
