Senseless Living

Written when I was 18

Melissa Lawson
Some people just accept who they are,
Forgetting to wish upon a star,
Never letting themselves go far,
Never coming up to par.

These people hold back the feelings they've stored,
Never knowing the feeling of being adored,
Still living somehow in the days of Yore,
Not knowing how it feels to never be bored.

Those people who've never felt this way
Don't know how it feels to live in Yesterday,
Too afraid to face Today,
So they leave us alone and let us stray.

Too many people ignore the love,
They think seeing the surface is enough,
Pretending to be higher above,
They don't see what we're trying to prove.

They leave us to our own defenses,
Seeing Life without pretences,
Trying to jump, but missing, the fences,
And so we learn that living in senseless.

I'm a single mom of one wonderful little girl. I've moved around a lot in my lifetime, and have been through many things. I consider myself a survivor.  View profile
