Participating in a celebration for one of his cousin's birthday, Elliot "Tito" Lile was inhumanely gunned down at a local nightclub in downtown Detroit, in the late hours on Saturday, July 10, 2010. Strangely enough, the news of the incident did not hit the local news, and/or media outlets- at all. I would like to use my power of the press to possibly help in bringing crime rates down in our "Motor City".

Elliott 'Li'l Eddie' Lile, known as "Tito" in his family, was my neighbor , early twenties and what people always knew as "a good person". Generally, this means the person is not a troublemaker, nor spend majority of their time in the streets, or hanging in nightclubs/bars; wants to be productive. But Elliott wasn't seen as "a good person" by his assailant, an even younger male according to reporting witnesses. Elliott was seen as a target - a target for senseless violence, resulting in a horrible crime.

Party-goers were all shocked to have been enjoying the music and friends, and then be witness to what many would call "something out of the movies". Of course, like many other senseless crimes, a fight "broke out ", stunned party-goers conversed among the shuffling crowd. Minutes later, gunshots were heard ... party-goers recollect having the nightclub's doors shut in their face, shielding the inside from the outside of the building housing Club Premium. This also, as reported by friends and family of Elliott, was keeping them from Receiving Hospital in Detroit, where he was pronounced dead at 5:07AM, Sunday, July 11, 2010.

At the scene of the crime, officers gathered as much information as they could - which wasn't much at the time. Reporting witnesses had a face, but no name for the gun-happy eluded suspect; apparently the event was an "All-White Party", and all party-goers were dressed in white - absolutely no way to totally distinguish the assailant from other party-goers. But time showed success, and a day or two later, information began to surface: the assailant shared mutual associates with Elliot, anonymous witnesses claimed the young assailant was "bragging" on the incident, had pictures 'floating' on the worldwide web, and soon the authorities had a good amount of the information needed to make an arrest. No arrest had been made at the time of publishing for this article, and according to officials, the case is still under investigation.
