Senseo Coffeemaker Product Review

The first thing to notice about the Senseo coffeemaker is its unique shape and colors. The Senseo is bent forward at a slight angle and features a small circular area in the front to hold a coffee cup or two. The color of the Senseo also draws attention because Philips, the company that makes Senseo, did not simply create the regular white, black or grey colored coffeemakers.

The Senseo does have the usual generic colors but they sport a bright sheen that show a reflection. The colors of the Senseo are black, white, chrome, black and silver grey, blue, and red. This allows for a better selection of colors for someone to try matching the color scheme of their kitchen.

The Senseo coffeemaker uses single pods that are perfectly measured to supply one cup of coffee. Some users have given tips on using this product and have said that the Senseo pod is strong enough to actually get two cups of coffee out of it.

After the Senseo has been set up for the first time, the instruction booklet says to run water through it and hold a large bowl to catch the water. This cycle cleans the inside of the Senseo machine. If this step is not followed the Senseo sometimes will not work or users will have problems with the machine later on.

Once I had brewed my first cup of Senseo coffee, the first problem I noticed is that the coffee was not as hot as some people would like. Once I added some cold cream to the coffee it was tepid at best and needed to be placed in the microwave to warm up. The taste of my chosen flavor which was French Vanilla Bistro was delicious and I ended up brewing more coffee throughout the day. Overall I do enjoy the Senseo but besides the temperature a few other problems have arisen.

The biggest problem with the Senseo is that you will receive one 8oz cup of coffee. That is a size so small you will stare into your coffee mug in shock the first time you see your portion. You can press the two cup coffee option but if you prefer strong coffee this will be weak if you reuse the same pod.

Another problem is that the Senseo has a water reservoir in the bag in which water is put in. This container is very small and holds maybe three 8oz cups if that. The reservoir has a tendency to leak after a few short uses and sometimes if you are lucky it will stop on its own but for many, their Senseo has made its way into their garbage can.

End result is if you do not prefer strong or very hot coffee then this machine is for you.

Try warming your cup in the microwave full of water for a minute and 10 seconds while the senseo is heating the water. The dump the water, add your cream and warm it in the microwavefor 20 seconds. The put it under the spout and make your coffee. It will be hot and stay hot for enough time to enjoy a good cup of hot coffee.

Your unit should have come with two pod holders. One is for a single cup (8 oz) the other will hold two pods and make a full cup of coffee (16 0z) which will fill and average mug. Pre-warm as above. Enjoy.
