Senses of Hope and Senses of Fear 2 Poems About Feelings

Catherine Garretson-Bilnoski
Senses of Fear

If Fear was a color,
It would be Black
As dark as a cave.

If Fear was a taste
It would taste like muddy water.

If Fear was a feeling
It would be as frigid as a grave.

If Fear was a smell
It would be the stale sweat of a squatter.

If Fear was a sound,
It would be the whimpering of a slave.

Senses of Hope

If Hope could be a color
It would be the light of dawn returning.

If Hope could be a taste
It would taste of salt waves breaking.

If Hope could be a smell
It would be the scent of cookies baking.

If Hope could be a sound
It would be sirens when I'm quaking.

If Hope could be a feeling
It would be an ease to aching.

If Hope could be an animal
It would be my pet dog begging.
