SEO Doesn't Have to Be a Pain in the Butt!

I'm sure you have probably been looking at SEO information across the Internet, and I'm sure it probably seemed like a foreign language to you. So here are some simple SEO techniques for blogging that are a little easier for you to understand and get you heading in the right direction.

Make sure you are using keywords. The use of keywords is a very important part of SEO for any online content. You have to do your research and select the best keywords for your blog posts, make sure you are using in your titles, and spread them sparingly throughout your posts. Spreading your keywords out in your blog posts makes it much easier for the search engines to spot and pick out, so you always want to make it easy for them.

Create a Sitemap. Having a sitemap for your blog will ensure that Google is indexing every single page and post that your blog has. Without one it is possible that some content will get overlooked by the search engines. So to avoid this make sure that you have a sitemap.

Avoid posting broken links. Always make sure that any links that you are posting on your blog actually work. There is nothing worst that visiting someone's blog and they lead you up to information that you are interested in and the link to that information doesn't work. I don't know about you, but it is extremely frustrating for me. If you find that some links on your blog don't work, make sure that you fix them as soon as you possibly can.

Spread your links out. Don't clump your links in one spot. Spread them out a little bit. Not only does it look better, but it is easier for the search engines to pick them out. Putting too many links in one spot confuses search engines and makes it harder for them to retrieve the information that are looking to pick out.

Don't make corrections to your blog posts. What I mean by this is information is forever changing and you may want make corrections to your old posts. Instead keep the original post like it is and create a brand new post with the additional information and link back to the old content. Do you know how much time you would be wasting if you took the time to correct every past post regularly? But if you have things to correct such as punctuation, misspellings, broken links, etc. then you should definitely make those types of corrections.

Increase the popularity of your link. The popularity of your link is determined by number of websites linking into your blog or posts as well as the quality of those websites. So you want to make sure that your are not just getting a bunch of junk websites linking into your blog because that is going to do nothing for your popularity. In my opinion have a couple of high quality links is better than having a lot of low quality links.

Use your anchor text properly. Anchor text is the text that you use on other websites to link back to your blog or blog posts. A common anchor text that people like to use is "click here." Using this particular anchor text is not the best idea because search engines actually learn more of what your link is about through anchor text. So if you are going to link back to a post or something you would be better off using something like "Learn more about article writing right now!" Article writing is the keyword that will be picked out by the search engine and from that it will know that you are linking to something about article writing.

Use text links for navigation throughout your blog. It sort of works the same way as the anchor text but it is a little more straight to the point which is something that the search engines can pick up a little better. So if you are linking your posts make sure you use their titles to link from post to post.

Minimize your flash objects as much as possible. Search engines have not learned how to handle flash objects yet, so flooding your blog with flash images won't help. If you have a bunch of banners on your blog then it may be a good idea to have more static banners than flash banners.

Add new updates to your blog regularly. Every now and then add a new page to your blog or something new that the search engine isn't use to seeing. This keeps your page from becoming static and it will keep your Google page ranking from decreasing.

Start using Google Analytics. There is a WordPress plugin that will install Google Analytics on your blog. But whether you install it on your blog or you use the main website it plays an important part in tracking your traffic. How are you going to know if you are doing well as far as traffic is concerned if you don't track it right? It doesn't take much just a few minutes a day to see your progress and things you need to work on.

These are just a few simple techniques that you can use for your blog, just make sure that you pay attention to your results so that you will know what works best. The key to any type of success is to find what works!
