SEOmoz.Org: More Than a Good SEO Resource

Deborah Woehr
I found SEOmoz.org while doing a search for free SEO tools. While I found plenty of tools, I also found a blog that was chock full of information about the search marketing industry, a community blog, access to free guides and what looks like a lively job board.

SEOmoz's Best Features (at least to me)

SEOmoz has a good list of free and paid guides on SEO, Internet Marketing and blogging. Beginners can take advantage of the free guides and checklists.

The best feature is the free SEO tools. Many of them are trial versions, or you have to sign up for a free membership in order to use them. I have listed the tools that I was able to evaluate below.

Open Site Explorer: evaluates your site for linking pages, top pages, linking domains, anchor text distribution and link metrics. Full access to your site report is available after you upgrade to the Pro version.

SEO Toolbar for Firefox: Looks very similar to SEObook's toolbar.

Trifecta: link and traffic analysis tool

Term Target: analyzes keyword frequency and positioning

Term Extractor: gives you three a three-column list of the top keywords and keyword phrases on your site or blog. Directly below this list is a full list of terms, including their importance rank. I found this to be a very useful tool.

Popular Searches: This is my favorite tool out of the whole collection. It is an all-in-one trending tool that gathers data from heavyweights such as Google, Yahoo!, Amazon, eBay, Technorati, etc.

If you're curious about SEO, Internet Marketing or blogging, visit their website at www.seomoz.org/ and check out what they have to offer.
