United we stood for an extraordinary cause
But somewhere in the middle we fell short
In the beginning the vision was very clear
Now ulterior motives have been revealed
The facades began to fade away
So the truth was no longer concealed
We turned into I and the teamwork effort began to die
We could no longer look in each other eyes
The thing that mattered most was holding on to one's pride
The focus was lost although we kept hope alive
But the writing was on the wall as we took a devastating fall
Together we could no longer win
Because we failed to escape
Our biggest struggle
The separation from within

Great poem. I have been where this poem takes you. I only hope that I can never visit that place again. My mind tells me that what I hope for may never come to be.
Another thought-provoking poem with a powerful message!
