Sephora has just introduced their Color Play 5 in 1 limited edition set. It's not just one large palette, it's actually five mini pop-out palettes in one. And it includes a compact, which fits inside the palette, that you can pop out and fill with whatever look you choose. It's awfully clever and tons of fun. This palette is very affordable at just $29.50 (a $150.00 value), and you can pick it up in Sephora stores or at www.sephora.com.
Each sub-palette contains ten eye shadows, two lip colors, and a blush. The sub-palettes are carefully coordinated so that all the colors in each individual set will work together. The first color story is called "Dinner in Paris" and is filled with grays and blacks and punctuated with a soft red gloss. It looks incredibly beautiful and sophisticated. The next color story, my personal favorite, is "Coffee in New York", and it is a palette or warm browns, including a coral and a brownish gloss, and a delicate pink blush which surprisingly sets off the beautiful browns. The next set, "Shopping in Milan", is purples, pinks, and greens. It's a fun mix of colors and the deep purples are a gorgeous contrast to the baby pinks. "Tango in Buenos Aires" is mixture of deep blues and greens, and "Clubbing in Tokyo" is full of candy colored pinks, blues, and yellows. These colors can be applied with a light hand, giving them more of a sheer look, or intensely layered for a very dramatic look.
The focus of these palettes is obviously on the eyes, with such a wide range of eye shadows to play with and enjoy, compared to just 2 lip colors per palette, and only one blush. Some of the eye colors could easily double as eye liner or even layered over top of your regular eye liner for longer wear. The lip colors are like a lip gloss, and could be worn individually or mixed together. I was very pleased with the soft color blushes which are feminine and girly, and coordinate beautifully with the eye and lip colors. The large black palette which holds the sub palettes shows off the gorgeous colors through a large plastic window while housing the compact in a hidden section. The compact is long and sleek and would fit nicely in a handbook or even a large clutch. The only thing that could improve this palette of makeup would be to include some small makeup brushes that fit into the compact.
I've been enjoying playing with the different colors in the Sephora ColorPlay 5 in 1 palette. "Coffee in New York" and "Dinner in Paris" are more sophisticated and serious looks, while "Clubbing in Tokyo" and "Tango in Buenos Aires" make great fun, funky looks. "Shopping in Milan" is a beautiful look, too, and I love them all. With the use of a little eye primer, my eye makeup lasts all day and I don't need to reapply anything other than the lip colors. I'm thrilled with this palette and can't wait to try out some more new looks! Visit www.sephora.com to ordera palette and see some of the exciting looks that it can create.
