If you are a mom like me, you need the kids to return to the "School Schedule" sooner rather than later. Here are a few tips that can help you and your kids get back into the busy school schedule that is sure to follow. Make sure, no matter how busy you get to make time for the family. Busy lives we all have, but family time is precious.
Breakfast On The Go
Eat a healthy breakfast. Fast morning breakfasts are important to families with school kids. We need breakfast, and we need it fast.Make sure your kids are prepared for their busy days by fixing a nutritious breakfast. Studies show that when we eat breakfast, we will have more energy throughout the day. Here are some choices to jumpstart your day:
• Cereal (Such as Raisin Brand)
• Oatmeal
• Eggs, Bacon, and Biscuits (Use the frozen kind.)
• Buttered Toast
• Peanut Butter Toast
• Omelets (Eggs, veggies, and low fat cheese)
• Fruit Salad (Use frozen fruit if fresh fruit is too expensive.)
• Biscuits and Jelly (A Quick On the Go Breakfast)
• Toast and Jelly
• Banana and Peanut Butter
• Yogurt
• Bagel and Cream Cheese (Or Peanut Butter)
• English Muffin (With butter)
• Fruit Smoothies (Fruit, Yogurt-Mix)
• Yogurt and Low Fat Granola
School Bedtime - Kids and Sleep
How much sleep do your kids really need to be fully alert for school the next day? If you ask your child, they probably will say not much. The truth is that we all need at least 7-9 hours of good sleep to help our bodies rejuvenate. For each child, this amount of sleep could be different.
If you have a teenager, you understand their need to stay up late and sleep in. Try to get your teen in a habit of getting adequate sleep every night. They will wake up better, have better moods, and really be able to be more active in their days.
Younger children definitely need adequate sleep during schools. Not only are they constantly busy but they also are growing insane amounts. Remember when your kid slept a lot, only to realize he'd grown several inches? This is a good reason why sleep is so important to kids of all ages.
Organize Homework
If your child is coming home with a ton of homework, Get Organized. Give your child a notebook or folder specifically for taking notes on homework. No more will they come home and not know what they are supposed to do. Keep your child organized.
As soon as they arrive home from school, find out what their homework is. This will help you plan out your evening. There may be days where it seems all you do is homework, don't despair! Homework isn't the end of the work for your child. They will learn responsibility and determination.
Scroll down to the links and download your FREE Homework Organizer. Getting organized is easier than you think. There are many creative ways of getting organized in school homework. Set up a School Station in your home. Buy a couple Tack Boards and buy some thumb tacks. Have your children put their homework on the board so both of you can see it. Now, there is no excuse for homework not getting done!
Get Organized for the School Year
You can also do the same thing for their bedroom. Buy a fashionable Tack Board for each child's bedroom. They can have a personal area to put of Things to Remember. Make sure they remember those important school things such as homework!
Stay Connected
Every family has their own busy schedules that they have to keep up with. Whether you get home at 4 or 7, make time for the family. Maybe you can't do family dinners every night of the week, but you can make time to find out about your child's days. Staying connected with your child is beneficial for her/him and you!
Take the time during the school year to stay connected with your child!
Stay Informed
Talk to your child's teacher to know how they are doing. Be an Informed Parent! Staying informed will help you keep your child on track with their schooling! There are so many events that go on during the school year that having a talking relationship with your child's teacher will help you know when things are happening... before they happen!
