Delta Fair and Music Festival starts on August 29th and runs through September 7th. Come join all the rides and fair attractions. This is the ultimate family event in Memphis. Check out the kids zone while you are there. There will be lots of Arts and Crafts vendors to browse with. Enjoy all the fair food favorites such as funnel cakes, corn dogs, and of course, Memphis BBQ. Music will be flowing through the air to keep you entertained. Some of the artist that will be there this year is Gavin Degraw, On a Dead Machine, The Romantics, Bryan Hayes, Carolina Lair, Chris Love, Cute is What We Aim For, Dan Montgomery, and many more.
Stax Museum is showing the "I shot Ray Charles" exhibit . It depicts Ray Charles in a span of 40 years of pictures. This is a neat family event. This event is slated to run through December 31,2008.
Auto Zone Park has a Redbirds game on September 1, 208 at 1:05pm against Oklahoma.
The Orpheum Presents "Casablanca" on September 5, 2008 at 7:15pm. This evening includes a night of trivia, music from the Mighty Wurlitzer, and the movie. Tickets are on sale an hour before the show starts at the theatre box office. Arrive early to hear the music. Ticket prices are $4 for seniors and children under 12 and $5 for all others.
The Orpheum presents Kathy Griffin on September 6, 2008 at 7pm.
Come have a laugh with Kathy. Tickets are from $47 and up, contact the ticket office for more price information.
Disney's High School Musical: The Ice Tour at the FedEx Forum. Show dates are September 4 through September 7. If you have a young child you know this is something that they would absolutely love. This is an action packed event and you will hear all the familiar songs from the movie. Saturday and Sunday will offer two shows. Tickets start at $13 and up. See FedEx Forum's site for times.
Auto Zone Park Big Scoop Ice Cream Festival on September 6, 2008 at 11am to 4 pm. This event is to benefit The Ronald McDonald House. Come for all the ice cream and frozen treats and see character like Rockey Redbird, Ronald McDonald, and many more. There is great entertainment and fun to be had at this event.
Memphis Farmers Market at the Central Stations Pavilion at 7am through 1pm on September 6, 2008. You will find some of the freshest veggies, fruits, and bake goods around. It is downtown at the corner of Front street and G.E. Patterson. I usually try to get there early before the crowd hits up all of the vendors. Although this is an outdoor event, no pets are allowed due to health concerns.
Memphis Tigers Home Game is on September 6, 2008 and starts at 7pm at the Liberty Bowl. They are taking on Rice.
Germantown Festival is back again on September 6 & 7 at Franklin Park and Morgan Woods. It is free to enter and is from 9:30am - 6pm. This is a great family event that has lots of children's activities, food, arts and crafts, and music. This event has over 300 booths to visit.
Sunday Brunch at The Peabody Hotel is on September 7, 2008. It is located in the Capriccio Grill at the hotel and is filled elegantly with food such as pastas, lamb, smoked salmon, beef, fresh bread, ham, and much more. Children can eat for $12 and adults at $29.50. You need to call ahead for reservations.
Peabody Afternoon Tea is served every Tuesday-Saturday between 2pm-3pm. Along with a variety of flavors of teas, there is pastries, breads, and tea sandwiches. Call for reservations. It is held at Cez Philippe. Tea time is $32.00.

TheOrpheum's 80th Anniversary Gala is on September 13, 2008 and it starts at 8pm. The Memphis Symphony Orchestra will present "A Salute to Broadway". Some Broadway Song favorites will be performed by Broadway Stars. Be sure to attend the after party at the Continental Ballroom at the Peabody Hotel. There will be cocktails and desserts along with entertainment from the Memphis Knights. Check with the Orpheum for ticket prices.

Southern Heritage Classic Celebration is back and is on September 11-13. This event began in 1990 and it is more than just a football game. There is events like Health fair, concert by Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, Mixer at Harrah's Casino, tailgating, golf classic, parade, fashion show, battle of the bands, and an after party.
B52's Concert at the Memphis Botanical Gardens on September 12, 2008. Gates will open up at 7pm and show will start at 8:30pm.
Taste of the Garden at the Memphis Botanical Gardens on September 13, 2008 and it starts at 10am. This event is where local chefs will show you ways to prepare winter veggies and roots with Irish cuisine.
Cooper Young Festival is on Sept 13, 2008 and starts at 9am. There is lots of food, art, and entertainment as you stroll through the festival. This is one of the most popular festivals in the area. It always draws a big crowd.
Monkey Around with Curious George: Let's Get Curious at the Children's Museum. This event goes through September 28, 2008. This life like exhibit features an Apartment Building set, Sidewalk Produce Stand, Construction Site, Mini Golf, Space Rocket, Farm, and a Museum within a Museum. Kids can have hours of fun with this exhibit. Admission for Museum is $9 per person.

WWE is coming to the FedEx Forum on September 15, 2008 and the show starts at 8pm.
Marc Cohn in Concert on September 17, 2008 at 8pm. It will be at the Bartlett Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $20.
Mid-South Fair is back on September 19, 2008 through September 28, 2008. This is said to be the last year it will be on the fairgrounds lot. There will be all the fair favorite foods and lots of rides and vendors to enjoy. Entertainment includes headliners like Boyz II Men, Rick Springfield, & James Otto. There is always so much to do at the fair.

Tuesdays on the Terrace Wine Tasting is on September 30 at the Memphis Botanical Gardens. Must be 21 years old to attend. Call the gardens for more info.
