Star Wars: The Force Unleashed: Perhaps the most anticipated Nintendo Wii video game of the fall. Star Wars: The Forced Unleashed covers territory that remains virginal on the big screen. Exactly what did happen in that far away galaxy a long time go between the creation of Darth Vader and the appearance of R2-D2 and C-3PO at Luke Skywalker's house in the middle of Pensacola...I mean the middle of the armpit of Tatooine. (Forgive me, it's hard to tell difference between my home and Luke Skywalker's desolate planet; we even currently have a lame duck school Superintendent and County Commissioners who makes us long for the rule of Jabba the Hut.) The player of Star Wars: The Forced Unleashed will actually be in the employ of Lord Vader and will be on a mission to wipe out the Jedi. All of them.
Sam & Max, The Adventure Company, Season 1: The oversized dog and the wee rabbit who staked their claim to fame on the internet and in comic book now hit the Wii console made so popular by Nintendo's weird marketing gimmick of not making it and its games available widely. I'm not sure what's more inappropriate about Sam & Max: The Adventure Company, the fact that a gigantic dog is keeping company with a hare or the fact that the gigantic dog mans a super huge .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, punk. If you are already familiar with Sam & Max: The Adventure Company, you will probably enjoy their adventures on the Nintendo Wii.
NHL2K9: For those of you who live above the Mason-Dixon and prefer your spectator entertainment that you like to mistakenly identify as a sport to involve ice, sticks and pucks rather than cars, pit stops and mush-mouthed drivers, September 2008 will witness the release on the Nintendo Wii of 2Ksports latest hockey game. NHL2K9 will feature more realistic graphics as well as the addition of a Zamboni mini-game. So fans of street fighting can revel in the hidden agenda of hockey once again: giving guys a legal defense for engaging in assault and battery.
Zoo Hospital: The rise of these new simulation games in the video game market carries a double-edged sword. While it is certainly a step in the right direction to get the pre-teen market away from the lurid and violence and just generally idiotic video games that saturate the market and toward video games engender a respect and appreciation of animals. At the same time, there is a concern about the corporate influence on the games that seems to be created for the purpose of creating a new league of potential employees in every field from cooking to ice skating to veterinary medicine.
The Price is Right: Wii game player come on down! All your favorite Price is Right games are here: Plinko, Hole in One, Three Strikes as you finally get the chance to prove your knowledge of manufacturer's suggested retail prices makes everybody else look as out of touch as Rudy Giuliani and his $1.50 gallon of milk. Of course, you probably aren't going to be lucky enough to get a Wii Mii as stupid and out of touch as Rudy Giuliani, but dream big, right?Source: Gamefly.com
