September's Restaurant

The Streets of Indian Lake - Hendersonville, Tennessee

Vicki Messer
My husband and I recently celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary at September's Restaurant, located in Hendersonville, Tennessee within The Streets of Indian Lake shopping area.

As we turned into the shopping area, we were pleasantly surprised by the design and layout. We were expecting a standard parking lot but instead, found angled on-the-street parking much like you would find in any small town shopping district. Both sides of "main street" were lined with shops and boutiques. We noted that corners and crossing areas were paved in brick as we moved from one block to the next.

Located right in the heart of the shopping area is September's Restaurant. The outside of the restaurant is done in beautiful stone with terra cotta colored awnings. Inside the restaurant you will find beautiful woodwork with more of the terra cotta color in the chair cushions, lamp shades, and artwork. There are more than 1000 bottles of wine on display throughout the restaurant, contained in glass displays with beautiful wood framing. Even though my husband and I do not indulge in wine, the display was very beautiful.

September's has 7 different areas for seating, depending on the occasion, including several outdoor patio areas for dining, and at least one area had a fire pit to use on those chilly autumn evenings. Inside and out, this restaurant is truly eclectically beautiful.

We were seated in a more secluded section of the restaurant that had crisp, white tablecloths and soft music from the 20s, 30s and 40s. We enjoyed the relaxing music as we perused the menu. The menu provided a wide range of choices from soup and salad, prime rib sandwiches, to steaks, ribs, salmon, prime rib, filet mignon and chops

We made our selections from the menu, choosing to share a 16 ounce pork chop dinner. We were so glad we decided to order one entree and share it because it was still more food than we could eat. The portions at September's are quite large. The salad was outstanding. We immediately noticed it contained a wide variety of salad greens and had none of that anemic looking iceberg lettuce. On top was chopped boiled eggs and croutons. I opted for the mango poppy seed dressing which was just delightful. My husband chose his usual honey mustard dressing and enjoyed it very much. We were also provided with a basket of rye bread and a saucer containing a dipping sauce for our bread. The sauce was a balsamic vinegar reduction with some spicy seasonings added. It was very good, but not something you could eat and wish for more. Our entree was brought out with an additional plate for sharing. We each had an 8 ounce rotisserie pork chop with a reduction sauce of onions and apples on top. It was not only beautiful, but thick and choice. We had steamed vegetables and a baked potato. The baked potato was huge. We cut it in half and again, had more than we could eat. The potato was "overstuffed" with sour cream, bacon and cheddar cheese.

As we were nearing the end of our meal, I told our waitress that we were celebrating our 39th anniversary. She quickly produced a dessert menu for us and told us to choose what we would like and it would be September's treat. My husband couldn't pass up the white chocolate key lime pie cheesecake. To say it was delicious would be a gross understatement. It was an experience. Truly this has to be the most delicious dessert we have ever enjoyed. We shared a very large piece of cheesecake and "oohed and ahed" our way through it.

We left September's with one of the best dining experiences ever. The hostess, the waitress and everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. The environment was peaceful, relaxing and beautiful. The food was excellent and we will definitely dine at September's again. It is well worth the trip just for the dessert and a cup of coffee.

September's Restaurant sounds like a great, family friendly place to eat. It was very sweet of them to provide dessert gratis! Congrats on such a long marriage and I hope you and your hubby are blessed with many, many more years together.
