Sequim is the gateway to the Northern area of the Olympic National Forest. Washington's Olympic forest is home to clear mountain lakes that are perfect for water sports and great fishing, trails for the hiker, and picturesque views for the professional and amateur photographer. There is a pass vacationers need for parking at all trailhead in the Olympic Forest. Visit the Sequim Visitors Center to buy a daily or weekly pass while on vacation.
Home of the Sequim Lavender Festival, which is held on the third weekend in July of every year Sequim is a must event for visitors. The lavender farmers provide demonstrations on the various ways to use this beautiful and fragrant herb. The Sequim Lavender Festival is a wonderful experience for visitors of all ages.
Visitors can enjoy a 25 mile-long trail, named the Olympic Discovery Trail, by hiking, bicycle, and even on horseback. The Olympic Discovery trail takes visitors on a trek between Sequim and Port Angeles, Washington. The trail is easy terrain with the well-packed composite in some areas and other areas paved to make visitors experiences more pleasant. To travel the Olympic Discovery Trail no matter how you are traveling the scenery and wildlife will take your breath away. However, in the future the Olympic Discovery Trail is ever-changing and will soon reach from Lake Ozette to Port Townsend, Washington.
When traveling around the Sequim area is sure to keep an eye open for the local wildlife. Sequim's very own Roosevelt Elk Herd which numbers around 100 elk can be found grazing on farm lands in and around the Sequim area.
Sequim is known to be one of North America's flyways and visitors can enjoy bird watching while vacationing here. Before your visit to Sequim visitors may wish to buy a bird guide for birds of the Northwest. With as many as 250 various species the book will certainly come in handy.
Before leaving the Sequim area a must place to visit is in Sequim is the Olympic Game Farm. Get close to some of he worlds endangered and some non-endangered wildlife. Home to animals such as grizzlies, lions, zebras and many other species this is a must for visitors to the area. Located at 1423 Ward Rd, Sequim, Washington.
