Serbian Chef's Serve Up Kangaroo Testicles at 7th Annual Testical Cooking Contest

What comes to mind when you think of a cooking contest? Award winning chili, elaborate cakes and desserts or BBQ, right? Well chef's in a small village in Ozrem, Serbia served up steaming dishes of kangaroo testicles on Saturday August 28, 2010.Generally, the idea of eating testicles (let alone considering them a delicacy) is probably a stomach turner for most, but the Annual Testical Cooking Championship gives home to a variety of chef's who join together in teams to compete for the top-prize award.

The championship cooking contest, which is held as a way for chef's to express their bravery and skills in a "fun" atmosphere, provides visitors and onlookers with tastings of kangaroo testicals, and testicles of camel, bull, boar and ostrich. The testicals, considered "white kidneys" and helpful in boosting the libido of men in Serbia, are served up in soups, marinated and as pizzas. Mouth-watering, right?

The championship contest also gives out a "ballsy" award each year to the public figures who are considered to have taken chances when the odds said not to. For 2010, the winning award went to none other than the U.S. President Obama for his "ballsy" act of coming into office during what is considered to be undoubtedly the roughest economic times the United States has seen. Way to go Barack! As runner up to the president, the second prize was awarded to 2009's hero of the seas, "Sully" Sullenberger who smoothly landed his airplane safely on the Hudson River.

What could complete a testical pizza better than beer? Visitors to the Annual Testical Cooking Championship are provided with a wealthy supply of beer and their choice of wine while attending the festival. For those visitors who prefer to have an additional side dish with their cooked testicals, the festival also offers roasted lamb and pig. To complete the fun and relaxing atmosphere of the day, guests and chefs were able to enjoy the sounds of folk music and take a dip in the river that flowed along the side of the testical cooking stands.
