Seregon O'Dassey told Time Out New York she drinks blood about two or three times a month. "It's never public; it's not like people think. I don't have a craving and grab a random person. If my boyfriend cuts himself in the kitchen or if I really want something, I'll ask my boyfriend. Or I have a little blade so I can make little nicks in myself. Nothing bad, it's completely safe, not even a permanent scar."
A vampire who cuts herself... Or her boyfriend...
She described the vampire world as one that operated just like regular cultures. They had presidents, mayors of cities, courts, an entire hierarchy or chain of command.
Time Out New York asked if there were "hipster" vampires. O'Dassey replied that there were "trendy" vampires she calls 'cyber Goths' who wear combat boots and ballerina skirts. She prefers old style, corsets. She calls them the "younger generation." And she finds "Twilight" "too young" for her as well.
Seregon O'Dassey is 28 years old.
She's a "True Blood" fan. But she insists that that is all about money and not "representative of the community." O'Dassey suggests that anyone interested in the vampire culture study it before trying to become a part of it.
When asked about the taste of blood, "It's thick; it's very rich. I wanna say dirty. But it's not sweet; it's not bitter." She adds, "What a lot of people don't know is that you shouldn't ever have to much of it because it's a natural laxative and it can make you sick. You're taking in energy, and you don't want to be greedy. It will overwhelm you. It teaches you control, in a way."
Seregon O'Dassey is part of a culture that has chosen to emulate vampires by indulging in the fetish of drinking blood. But there are no known disorders where people crave blood for consumption. Although there are many myths and legends about vampires and vampire-like medical conditions, most promoted through pop culture and Hollywood, according to Harrison's Internal Medicine, none exist.
Self-proclaimed vampire Seregon O'Dassey has been involved in several horror films, the last of which, "Cleric," is in post-production. According to IMDb.com, she also has a movie, "Sound of Mind," in pre-production.
