Serendipity 3 came around in 1954. The 3 came from its three founders: Stephen Bruce, Preston Caradine, and Calvin Holt. Serendipity's Famous Frrrozen Hot Chocolate is a mixture of 14 cocoas, milk, and ice served with a spoon and straw in a unique Serendipity 3 goblet. It is very delicious and very addictive.
Celebrities, like Oprah, have talked publicly about how good this stuff really is. Visit the Serendipity 3 website and you will see a picture of Bill Clinton in the restaurant. Supposedly, Jackie Kennedy even loved the stuff so much that she wanted to serve at the White House for an event.
For many years the ingredients of the Frrrozen Hot Chocolate were kept a secret. Now, the recipe has been revealed so that people everywhere can enjoy this scrumptious treat.
Here's what you will need to make your own Frrrozen Hot Chocolate:
6 half-ounce pieces of various chocolates
2 teaspoons hot chocolate mix
1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 cups milk
3 cups of cups of ice
Whipped Cream and Chocolate Shavings for the topping
Chop the chocolate into small pieces. Place it in the top of a double boiler over simmering water. Stir occasionally until melted. Add the hot chocolate mix and sugar. Stir until completely melted. Remove from heat and slowly add ½ cup of milk until smooth. Cool to room temperature.
In a blender, place the remaining cup of milk, the room-temperature chocolate mixture and the ice. Blend on high speed until smooth and the consistency of a frozen daiquiri. Pour into a giant goblet and top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
If you don't want to make your own, go to the Serendipity 3 website. You can buy three large packages of Frrrozen Hot Chocolate mix for $14.85. All you have to do is put it in a blender with ice and milk, and you've got yourself your very own Serendipity 3 delight.
You can also buy a gift box for $25. It has two packages of Frrrozen Hot Chocolate mix, a Serendipity 3 goblet, a spoon, straws, and a little bit of info on the restaurant. It makes a great gift for chocolate lovers everywhere.

I remember trips into New York City when I was living across the river in New Jersey's Hudson County that just HAD to include Serendipity. Haven't had it for years, but I recall that even for a chocolate fan like me, it was almost too much chocolate.
