'Serendipity' Christmas Engagement Party

"Serendipity" is a romantic movie that came out in 2001 set in New York City. This is the perfect movie to base a Christmas Party on especially if there is an engagement announcement to be made.

The plot of "Serendipity" is a classic love story where the people who are attached to other people meet. Fate brought them together to buy the same pair of gloves, and through the movie, we see how fate keeps them attached together even when it seems as though they have turned away.

For this engagement announcement Christmas party, start with invitations, which have some snowflakes on them. Handmade is better. With some card software, the host can easily make them. A cute card would be "Serendipity" on the front with the snowflakes, with the usual party information on the inside.

The couple went ice-skating in the movie, and if the engaged couple are both able ice-skating is a great party activity. However, a nice wagon ride or walking in falling snow is also romantic but not always feasible.

Watching the movie "Serendipity" at the party is a feasible idea for just about every couple, as most American homes now have a DVD player. Be sure to include other great romantic movies such as "Sleepless in Seattle," "Ghost," "The Notebook," or even the 1997 version of "Titanic."

For decorations, snowflakes and many romantic white Christmas lights could make a dramatic effect. Snowflakes of many sizes could be cut from white paper. Hang these from the ceiling or in the windows. Those white candles, which operate with battery power, are a great romantic touch when placed around the room.

Food could consist of chili or a soup served from a crock-pot where guest can help himself or herself. Finger sandwiches, pepperoni, cheese, meatballs, crackers, and a rye boat dip are also excellent choices. If the host wishes, the guests can be asked to bring a dish to pass to the "Serendipity" engagement party.

When the guests all arrive at the engagement party, the host and a few helpers can pass out cups of "Serendipity" hot chocolate. Ask all guests all to hold off drinking it until an announcement is made. When everyone has a cup the bride and groom to be can make the announcement. This will ensure everyone is in the Christmas sprit.
