Series Finale of The L Word: Did We Learn Anything?

Christine H
So, who did kill Jenny Schecter? After the season finale last night do we still really know? There are many insinuations throughout the final show. Tina and Bette focus heavily on the fact that the contractor bailed on them before finishing the remodel on the house. They mention several times that the railing is missing. And this railing is on the balcony that over looks the pool. Could Jenny have fell off the balcony, did she jump or did someone push her?

While our ladies are in watching the farewell tape Jenny made for Tina and Bette, they flash to Sounder, Jenny's dog whining pool side. Was Jenny in the pool already? If so it would appear that Tina, Bette, Shane, Max, Kit, Helena, and Alice have an alibi. They were all watching the video. Was the farewell video that Jenny made really just for Bette and Tina? Or was she making it to say goodbye to all of her friends before she killed herself? During her conversation with Kit, Jenny said she knew her friends didn't want to be around her anymore. Was she so depressed she was willing to commit suicide?

Bette had motive to kill Jenny after Jenny had shown Kit the video of Bette and Kelley, which Jenny shot from such an angle that it did appear they were up to something. Was this enough to tip Bette over the edge and kill Jenny? I don't think so. Bette and Tina were preparing to move to New York, why bother with Jenny at this point.

While Shane was looking for her jacket and note that Molly had left with Jenny, she stumbled across the stolen film negatives from "Lez Girls". Tina had lost her job basically over these missing films, which was the reason she accepted the job in New York.

Alice left the room to go get Jenny while the others continued to watch the video. Was Alice gone long enough to push her into the pool and drowned her? Alice was completely dry. She had vowed all night to make up with Jenny. Hopefully all you die hard fans DVR'd this episode. Go back and listen to when Alice hugs Tasha at the end of the episode. Does she say something to Tasha? Listen closely, it sounds like she says I killed her. Maybe it is our imagination, maybe it's not.

Maybe Jenny didn't drowned at all. You never actually see her being pulled from the pool. You only assume she drowned because Shane and Bette are sitting there in bathrobes when the police come into the house. And you assume this is the case because of the dog whimpering poolside. They never reveal the cause of death.

Showtime and The L Word will now have "The Interrogation Tapes" on Showtime's website. Upon watching the first one of Tina's interrogation, you learn nothing more that hints at what really happened, although you do learn some things about Tina. I can only assume there are more "Interrogation Tapes" to come since only Tina's is currently posted. Will we learn what really happened in the coming weeks? I hope so, or it will be a disappointing ending to such a wonderful show.
