Sermon in Prose

C.
-part one-

'LIVE YOUR LIFE TO THE GLORY OF GOD!'
Only there rests the hope, the future
O' sons & daughters of the barrio--
You, the new generation, the flame of Tomorrow!
Again I shall burst free of these chains
As you, also, burst free from hopelessness!
With God, all the world is yours!
Again I shall come home
Back to where I belong
With you, to you,
Whose love granted me life--
Your breath in my lungs and
Your heart beating in my own!
Again I shall come home
To reclaim my place amidst the fire--
My friends, my family--
To share with you the bridge of hope
The light the Word--
O' sons & daughters of the barrio,
'LIVE YOUR LIVES TO THE GLORY OF GOD!'

-part two-

Warfare and breeding are not the way
to preserve the race from annihilation.
You are making your life their game--
they laugh. they hate.
all in all they do not see
for the beauty cannot be seen past the bloodshed.
Stand as you were intended
my brothers & sisters--
strong proud and free.
In each, the essence of God, born in humanform
In each, the power the glory of creation
In each, a link between your ancestry and tomorrow.
Stand as you were intended
my brothers & sisters--
strong proud and free.
And, above all, stand together!
change the words blood heart and honour
to reflect your path unto the Lord.
See the challenge the hope the brightness
of each day each moment.
In you, my brothers & sisters
the blaze of glory
will be either an instant or eternity!
'VIVE LA RAZA!'

Nice poem! I enjoyed reading it. However, do you mind interpreting the last line (specifically the word 'raza')?
