Serving in Haiti Immediately After the Earthquake: Upcoming First-Hand Live Broadcast by Dr. Paul Osteen

Haiti Disaster Relief Efforts Live Stream Online Broadcast: Dr. Paul Osteen's Experiences Serving on a Medical Team in Haiti During the Haiti Disaster Relief Efforts

Heather Inks
Dr. Paul Osteen, a Lakewood Church minister and a medical doctor, left on January 16, 2010 for Haiti with the Samaritan's Purse medical team. This 10-member surgical team of medical experts provided much needed emergency surgeries and medical relief to the people injured in the 7.0 Haiti earthquake that occurred on January 12, 2010.

Dr. Osteen will be sharing his experiences including performing surgeries at the Baptist Haiti Medical Hospital in Port-au-Prince, which was one of the hardest hit areas by the catastrophic earthquake. He will share his experiences and photographs during a live online broadcast on February 6th and 7th.

The Samaritan's Purse medical team arrived in Haiti on January 18, 2010. This medical team of professionals flown into Haiti included Dr. Bill Frist, former majority leader of the U.S. Senate, to provide emergency medical relief for a two-week period, with a rotation of location on the 25th of January.

Since the 7.0 earthquake in Haiti, there have been over 56 aftershocks, which are earthquakes of a smaller magnitude than the initial 7.0 earthquake. On January 20, 2010, a large 6.1 earthquake hit Haiti. Fortunately, the entire Samaritan's Purse medical team was accounted for and unharmed. Dr. Osteen safely returned to Houston from the trip on the last weekend in January.
