Seth MacFarlane Uses F-Word on Live Television During E!'s 2009 Primetime Emmy Coverage

Family Guy Voice Talent Seth MacFarlane 's "WTF?" 2009 Emmy Moment

Family Guy Creator Seth MacFarlane Drops F Bomb On E! Network's 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards Broadcast

Moments in to the 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards coverage on E! Entertainment Network, Seth MacFarlane let the f-word slip his lips on live television.

Hosts Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic began the 2009 Emmy Awards show coverage by introducing E!'s new "Glam Cam 360", which gave viewers a look from every possible angle at celebrity fashion. The pair then began to interview celebrities from different spots on the red carpet as they arrived at the 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards.

Giuliana spoke with several Emmy presenters and nominees during the live E! coverage of the red carpet arrivals. Moments into the red carpet interviews, a chat with Seth MacFarlane of Family Guy fame didn't go quite the way Ms. Rancic expected, though it made for an entertaining television moment for viewers at home. (And one for super-uptight soccer moms who may have been watching with their kids to ring up the FCC over!)

While speaking with Family Guy creator and voice actor Seth MacFarlane, Giuliana Rancic joked with the television talent about whether or not he uses profanity on a regular basis in his day-to-day life. MacFarlane admitted he did, and feigned concern that he might say something inappropriate right there as he spoke to her.

Rancic told MacFarlane E! was a cable network, and he could say anything he wanted, but immediately showed regret. Rancic laughed nervously as she retracted the offer, trying to cover MacFarlane's mouth with her index cards.

Just seconds later, Giuliana's fears were realized as Seth MacFarlane dropped the "F Bomb" on E!'s live broadcast. The errant F-word seemed to be an honest mistake, and came when MacFarlane was musing about the Family Guy Emmy nomination, declaring the nomination alone to be a victory and saying of it, "We just figure, what the f**k?" (presumably as in, "Hey, whatever happens.").

Giuliana looked momentarily stunned before asking MacFarlane if he had just "cussed", and reminding him that even on cable you can't "say the F-word!"

For his part, MacFarlane seemed rather unaffected by his 2009 Emmy gaff, saying to a still somewhat shocked Giuliana Rancic, " Well, what do you want? You put a microphone in my face, what do you expect?" The "F Bomb" Emmy incident seemed to amuse MacFarlane, and E! quickly glossed over it and continued their 2009 Emmy Awards "Live From the Red Carpet" coverage.

Whether or not Seth MacFarlane planned to say something naughty on live television or if it was an honest slip-up, people are sure to be talking about the 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards for many reasons. The stars, the fashion, the awards, and of course, for the "F Bomb" Seth MacFarlane dropped on the red carpet during an interview with E!'s Giuliana Rancic.

I enjoy watching that program whenever I can which is rarely. Was it just a slip of the tongue, or preplanned to get attention?

I am sorry I missed it but Jennifer, the funniest thing in this article is your translation of his slip-up! Love this: presumably as in, "Hey, whatever happens.

Regular viewers of Family Guy know that some of the content on that show is far more offensive than "the f-word." And for someone like me who is thoroughly entertained by offensive content, that's a good thing.

Don't give a guy like that an opening, he will take it everytime.
