Setting Up Your MySpace Profile: Simple Instructions No One Shows You

Alright so there is like what 200 million people almost on MySpace? Which many of them don't even mess with there accounts simply because the process of setting up these great looking profiles can take days if not weeks for some. So being a full-time Internet marketer and having my name, user name, and profile picture on about 47 different social and business networking communities I thought it would be a great idea to give you some basic Profile Networking 101. What better place to start than Myspace.com.

#1 First thing you are going to is click the Sign up button in the Member Login box on the right hand side of the page.

#2 You'll be taken to a simple 2 minute sign up with name, email address, gender, etc. etc. Once you are finished, click submit and you will be taken to a verification page for security purposes and just simply type in the letters as they are shown in the box either Capital or Lower case. Click Continue.

#3 Its time to upload your photo which you just click Browse and take one off of your computer. After that they will take you to an invite page, but you can scroll down towards the bottom and click the Skip For Now link to the right of the Invite button if you wish not to invite anyone.

There ya go the easiest part is over and now that we are actually in your profile I can show you a few things to help you along the way.

#1 One of the coolest parts of creating a profile is getting a great looking background that people enjoy and that makes you feel good about your accomplishment of finding it. The problem is where do you find one and what do you do once you see it. I am going to give you a list of 3 websites that have some fantastic looking layouts for you to choose from. Yes you could just google search "myspace layouts" but so many come up and the ads on most are ridiculous that its annoying even looking for a layout. Here are my top 3:

I will use the Revolution MySpace as the example. Once you on the page you will see a link in the navigation bar that says Layouts click on it. An ad will pop up but in the top right corner it says Skip Ad. You will come to various categories and once you find what category you wish to find your layout simply click the link. There are different layouts in each category so once you find the one you think could be the one you want click Preview Layout and in another browser you can view how it will look on your MySpace profile, when you are finished viewing just exit out. Once you find the one you want you will see a link that says Get Code which is the html you are going to use. Click on the code and it will be highlighted in blue, right click your mouse, and click Copy.

You are almost finished all you have to do is go back to your MySpace profile and next to your picture on the right it says Edit Profile just click it. You will see a long rectangle that says Headline above it and right below that you will see a huge box that says About Me. This is the box you are going to put your html code in, all you have to do is click in the box, right click your mouse and select Paste. When you are finished at the top of the page you will see a Save All Changes button, click that and it will take you to the verification page to type in some letters again, once you are finished with that you now have your background. Yippeee!! To make sure everything turned out okay you will see a link underneath your profile picture that says Profile and when you click on that you can view how others see your profile.

After that just go back to the Edit Profile area and you can type all your information that you wish to share with others, the categories of Who I'd Like to Meet, Interests, Music, Movies, Television, Books, and Heroes. Now these are just starters but technically you can put whatever you want in any category you don't have to talk about books in the books category it can be about news, sports, fashion, or whatever you like.

Well that is all I have for today, better to keep it simple the first go round because after that you can add pictures, music, videos, blogs, and all kinds of other stuff. In fact I'll tell you what I will give you a quick rundown of the others.

Blogging- Just write something you want to talk about in the blog area.

Music- Click the Music link in the navigation bar at the top of the page and do a search on your favorite artist. When the page comes up and you see songs on the right of the page playing choose the one you like by clicking the Add link and it will automatically add it to your profile.

Videos- Easiest place to get videos is Youtube. Just go there do a search for what kind of video you want, and on the right side of the video you will see html code that you can copy and then come back to your myspace profile and paste it in whichever section you choose.

Pictures- If you want html for your pictures so you can display them on your profile go to www.photobucket.com and sign up for a free account. Upload a picture to your album there and they will generate a html code for you that you can copy and paste into your MySpace profile as well. Plus the popular thing to do is slideshows which you will be able to make at photobucket.

Banners- Some people use MySpace for business purposes and if you have a banner you should be able to get the html code from your business and place it on your profile.

Okay, I'm done for real this time, but I hope I helped and I imagine with around 200,000 + people joining on a daily basis somebody will need this, lol.
