Setting Up a Nursery? Use This Quick Checklist

Dale Miller
The doctor confirms and congratulates you on your pregnancy. Before you know it,after a few ultrasounds, it's almost time to have the baby. Time goes fast so I've gathered an easy to use checklist of items to include in your new bundle of joy's new room.

Of course, retail stores and salesmen say you need this and you need that. Before you know it, you'll have things that won't be used and the money could have been spent on more important things. The list starts with a very important, comfortable crib and mattress with a waterproof pad. Some receiving blankets and a soft fuzzy comforter are needed.

Then, the dresser and changing table with another waterproof pad is also important. All the diaper changing accessories would be convenient right next to the changing table. Some dressers already have the all in one feature where you can use both until your done changing the baby on it. Then, it can just be a dresser and your child can start storing their belongings on top.

Diapers, wipes, vaseline, pacifiers and a radio or there is a cd available that hooks right on the crib. Just a small diaper garbage pail is necessary. You don't need any of those fancy, expensive or futuristic trash cans. The baby monitor is helpful and allows you to hear your little one during the night or at nap time. Babies also like night lights.

Don't forget stuffed animals, baby brush, baby toothbrush, books, stain remover spray and rattle. Buying too many of the same size clothes could be bad because if you have too many, you may not get to use all of them. Some people have to put clothes with tags still on them away. Clothes and pajamas of the current size and a few of the next sizes would make you better prepared.

All of the above items are necessary and will help you get started with setting up your nursery. The rest of your baby supplies will probably be stored in your kitchen or bathroom. Congratulations and enjoy your new son or daughter.
