Setting Right Something that is Wrong, There Are Times it Can Come Too Late

This is something I have wanted to talk about for a long time. Pastor Terrry Jones' proposed International Koran burning Day, slated for today, made me realize I can't really put it off any longer. And while I have never once agreed with Sarah Palin, for once, I have to. She's asked Paster Jones to 'stand down.' I hope he does.

I was recently stolen from, lied to, and my trust betrayed a great deal. This person knows who she is, of course, but even though she denies she has done what she in actuality has done, it doesn't change the fact that I know about it. If she as a Christian were to practice her religion half as well as she preaches it, she would simply say, "hey, I made a mistake, come get your things. I'm sorry, forgive me, I had a moment of bad judgment," Or something along those lines. It's never too late to reverse something that isn't permanent. However, after something is destroyed, it's usually a done deal. While Pastor Jones might be thinking that we'll as a nation think he's a jerk, or a wuss, or a 'whatever' if he backs down, caves in, or as Palin phrased it, 'stands down,' the majority of us will be relieved.

Our troops will face the extra dangers from not only a peeved radical faction of Muslims, but also possibly from those Muslims who are otherwise civil. This could cause even those Muslims who have been peaceful towards us, to change their viewpoint of us as a Nation, and take this out on our troops. This could be used as a tool for the radicals, the extremists, to recruit more young men into their ranks. Is this what you really want, Pastor Jones?

I don't know about you, but I have friends there, loved ones, and I don't like the way the war is already going. I don't want somebody here causing more problems there because he thinks that people will think badly of him. Maybe my view is wrong, and maybe he doesn't care what we as a Nation think. I know he doesn't care how the Muslim population of the world is going to view this. But one thing is certain. Once it's done, it's done, and there is no turning back. This might be sensationalized in the media, but it won't blow over lightly within the various Muslim communities around the world.

So yes, Palin is correct on this, for once, as is Obama. What is wrong, Pastor Jones, with you being correct, and taking the lives of the men and women around the world, military and civilian, into consideration? Why would you want to risk adding them to the statistics of this war, just to make a point? You'd make a stronger point by taking all those Korans you've purchased back to the vendor you bought them from, and demanding a refund. Use the money to send Bibles to Christians in the Middle East instead, please.

(To clarify, I was raised Christian, but I have 'studied' several different religions. My own personal preference is Unitarian Universalist, and I do have friends of many different religions, including Arab-Christian friends who left the Middle East to live in America. I do not like wars based on religion, and wish we didn't have to fight this one, but as someone told me, I would rather have it there, my own personal selfish desire there, because I don't want a war in my own backyard, so to speak. We as Americans do not back down when attacked, but rarely are we this openly the primary aggressors in a war as Pastor Jones wants to do.)
